So sorry that your wife bothers you that much that you must spend the day relaxing by yourself. We are retired, too, but what is that comment about growing old together.

Of course, I do write in jest, and I have suffered so long, 44 years, that I am used to it. My wife is typical of always coming up with new things we must get done. Things that are perfectly fine, must be changed. My dogs make no such demands. My golfing buddies really don't care what I do other than hit the ball and pay up when I lose. Growing old together? Indeed! She was so much younger when I married her. But, I digress...

Great poem. Nothing is more relaxing than seeing some arduous reading and realizing you never have to attack it. The pretext presented is certainly one to consider. The wording is commonplace and conversational. The humor is obvious The poem flows well.
I have no suggestions. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, the poem is amusing.
Some say men hang onto their jobs for as long as possible to keep out the wife's way.
The poem is contest compliant
Thank you for sharing
Best wishes for the contest

As you mentioned, I have known men who continue to work to avoid their wives. At our golf club, we often say, "if my wife would just divorce me, I could quit playing golf." Much the same. But, after 44 years, I've gotten used to it...

🤣😂👌Divorce relieves a retired man from the burden of marriage, maybe... But from the burden of playing golf, I find hard to believe ⛳😜😂I think the 29 th hole is too addictive 🤗

This sounds lovely-I have a bout a year and a half before I retire and I am looking forward to it for sure! Sounds to me like you have it pretty well figured out!

Figured out? Maybe not. We bought a motorhome and so I have solved having too much money in the bank. And, the challenges of fixing things is work itself. However, spending September and October in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont sooths the wounds... Thanks for letting me share writing with you.
