It was a gorgeous haiku. I love butterflies and have a little portfolio on them. Alas, these creatures have a short life span. They are graceful and airy and I love watching them fly.
The satori was stunning - "their last waltz".
Good luck in the contest.

haiku (two butterflies), is short, succinct and more than a little heart-breaking. With a minimum of words this talented poet has told it as it is.
Good luck in the contest. Please let me know how you get on?

You're more than welcome!

Your haiku is in great form. Your word choices are perfect. The words paint their own image, but your picture choice is appropriate. Great job with the style of haiku. I could see this unfold as I read.
Best wishes in the contest.
Respectfully, Jan

Yes this Haiku paints a picture of late summer season as butterflies begin to disappear from the landscape - they seem to be forming part of yet another species in decline- thanks for sharing

Another great Haiku. The second one I have seen today. Capturing the fate of the butterflies with beautiful words. I think you will do well in the contest.

Love the concept..just amazing!!
However hard to identify the structure in accordance with haiku..Could have been more visually presentable...
But I love the simplicity of this poem ..creates visual for me ..good luck and keep writing !!

Nice poem. You said a lot with very little. It's somewhat sad that such beautiful things have such a short life span. I guess they performed the duty they were put here for and expired. Good job.
Blessings.

I like your poem. It encapsulates the plight of butterflies today in a poetic and dreamy fashion. As I mentioned to someone else earlier who wrote about butterflies, we live on a farm and we used to have hordes of them every summer. We have patches of milkweed and we never spray, but I haven't seen a single butterfly this summer. It is a sad thing that some only live such a short time and we have so few in this area now.

Thank you for the beautiful review. Here in Coronado, where we live, there are an abundance of them. Wish I could share them with you.

You are so lucky. Here in Maine there doesn't seem to be,

It always amazes me how so few syllables can say so much. I have never given the fact much though but I do know butterflies have such short lives. Very well done with a pretty picture.
