Though this is true for most anyone, you expressed yourself perfectly. I think I have definitely turned into my mother. My sisters swear it!
I cook and bake like her, but I definitely don't dress like her. She was beautiful and dressed elegantly. I am more the casual type, but my sisters dress like her everyday. They always look like they are going out to a gala. ð???.
I tease them about it perpetually. They cannot help it. That's who they are. This is who I am and you are who you are meant to be, my dear.

Thank you Marie, It wouldn't be a bad thing to turn into my mother but everyone wants to be themselves. It was just a fun poem .

Mother's and daughters can have complicated relationship sometimes. I understand what you mean. My mom died when I was ten. I wish she would still be here with me.

I'm sorry you lost your mom at ten. Children need their mom. I would have been devasted if I'd lost mine at ten. The problem is mom's often don't want to let let and let your be on your own when you grow up. I don't want to the be the kind of mom who doesn't know when to let go. Thanks for the review and comment. It is easy to see some of your mom in yourself as your get older.

Thank you again for the reveiw and comments. My mom was a very caring person, who never could let go. I always felt I was letting her down. I don't like the idea of becoming her.

This is a cute poem. I think it's a curse that we all eventually become our mothers. Ann Landers once said that one day she put on her sweater and she swore it was her mother's hand that came out the other end of the sleeve. Good job!

I like your words. I do think our mothers live on in us, even if we are different. I also think we can relate more to our mothers as we get older. I like how your poem ends with a question that makes the reader think.

Thank again for reading my free verse poem. I do appreciate my mom. She was very loving but she did know how to push my buttons. I have to try hard not to do that to my children.

This was plain-speaking and set me to thinking. I was not raised by my mother, but could I become her - her genes created part of me, I know. So I watch for that sharp voice and sneering lip - may I be strong enough to be me - not her. Excellent work...

I enjoyed reading your poem. I guess I am an odd one. My mom is the most patience person on the Earth. She's 89 years old and I have only seen her angry once in my life and it was directed to some contractors that deserved to be shot, but anyway. I do have part of that in me. I am extremely patience, but if my buttons get pushed in the correct order, I blow like a volcano. My father comes out. He was a loving man, but had a temper. My husband says I can go from a B personality to A+ in less than 5 seconds, if the right button is pushed. I disagree a little. It takes a lot of pushing that button before I blow and I do give warnings.

Thank you Barbara. My mom didn't get anger either, but she did know how to push other peoples buttons. She was very sweet and loving, but she had a tendancy to passive/aggressive. I loved her very much and I miss her but I really didn't want to become her. LOL
