Excellent Senryu entry for the contest. The title is a song from the musical Don Quixote de la mancha...based on.a Spanish novel. Good syllables count and connection between lines. Good luck in the contest.

Thanks Gypsy! The inspiration for this post was my Sunday afternoon attendance at an outdoor concert of popular music by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Gershwin, Kern, et al.

This is an inspiring poem ..

Don Quixote is in love with Dulcinea and to show his worthiness , he sets off with his faithful squire to fight the injustices ( windmills) of his world.

I love the song "to dream the impossible dream ..it always makes me cry.. and I'm addicted to sad songs ..

The artworks complements well your words.

PS: it might be me splitting hairs again but to me these two option sound better to the ear :


Belief in one's self

Or

Believe in yourself .

Good advice, without a doubt I wonder why you call it the "impossible" dream or is that an homage to the song? It is satsifying to see clarity in works so short. A very precise form of art.

Thanks for that review. Yes, the title may indeed be a homage to the song and the Man of La Mancha. I wonder what he would say in his review? (-; My writing style is mostly 5-7-5. Longer poems are just not in my poetry wheelhouse.

I commend anyone who attempts this kind of poetry. I think I am too talkative to try and do it. Maybe someday I'll try it. LOL For some reason I wanted it to say believe instead of belief but they both can work I suppose. Best to you:)

Thanks for your review and commentary. I had toyed with believe. ?Belief in yourself? does have a slightly different nuance. I wonder how the Man of La Mancha would say this. LOL

My writing style mainly includes 5-7-5 or Haiku-like poems. Longer verses are just not in my poetry wheelhouse (-;
