Oh my goodness I live e.e. Cummings! And you e done him proud in this piece.
I love your pacing and pauses indicated by you punctuation. That is definitely an e.e. cumming trait.
This just magical and I thrilled to give you a well earned exceptional rating my friend!

I really like this thoughtful poem and the idea of time, though passed, being conserved within the rings of the tree. Time, nature, the universe -- it's all so mysterious and timeless.

    Hi Susan,

You?re so right! The universe really is such a mysterious place and so timeless it boggles the mind.

I am amazed at the trees being a record of weather and earth events that tell an accurate story surrounding their lives. We owe the majestic trees so much, food, shelter, paper, books, clothes, shade, oxygen ?

Thank you for such a lovely review and thoughts!

Have a great week, Susan :-)

You are so right about what trees provide. There are thousands of items that come from a tree, from pencils, to glue, to all kinds of things.

An enjoyable free verse piece that is well composed and presented.

The descriptive imagery created throughout the poem is effective and engaging for the reader.

Dendrochronology is one of my favorite words and sciences. It amazes me how trees tell their stories for all ages. You have done a fine job with an ee cummings feeling - his poetry is so amazing. Very fine work all around.

Your poem and beautiful picture combination show hidden universes past and present, and leaves me wondering what will happen during upcoming tree rings. Thanks for sharing.

    Hi Ric,

Good to hear from you! (I will pop into your portfolio this week).

Thanks for your great review and thoughts. Yes, not sure what the tree rings will reveal but sure they will tell a story. The future does frighten me a bit, but we have had strange weather forever. I think that?s what weather does ..it changes. But still worrisome.

Hope you have a great week :-)

-Very nice image and
presentation, Senyai.
-e.e. cummings is one
of my favorites.
-I appreciate your notes, too.
-Excellent imagery that paints
a vivid word picture of the scene.
-I like how you begin with the sky
and the impact it makes at night.
-The second part is very good, too,
with the trees "wrapping up time
in quite rings."
-A very good entry; good luck.

You are very welcome, Senyai. Ironically, during the last year I wrote a lot of poetry and found artwork by e.e. cummings. I have a poem that I am going to share eventually. His art was stunning. You have a great rest of your Sunday and the week ahead, too.

Wow...Your chosen words and the picture are fantastic, filling the reader's thoughts with awesome imagery. I would never have thought of the tall trees being pall bearers in the night... but your words put me there with full understanding and the rings mark the march of time. Outstanding!

Smiles, Carol

This is a fine poem. Vey down to earth, and yet providing plenty of food for thought. I especially liked the words:

Each massive trunk a pall bearer's gown

wrapping up time

Did you make this poem from the picture or find it for the poem? It works well. Nicely posed thoughts using the forest trees. Time counted by its rings, brilliant. Was it that they stood tall to look gloomy like a pall bearer? Nice.

Overall nicely structured and easy to read. Thanks

    Hi Jarvis,

Good to hear from you again. No, I wrote the poem over a year ago and saved the file. I searched for a photo that encompassed the mood of the poem I felt it had and finally found one royalty free.

Thank you for your interest and for a top notch review! Always appreciated, sir.
