Well said, well written. The words you choose were powerful when needed and yet, subtle at the right time.

I would like to give you six stars but I do not have any.

You did a super job with this prompt. I am sorry I didn't read it - it must have been for an anonymous contest. Your verses are well rhymed and metered and express all the fears that everyone has about our country no matter their political leanings.

Thank you! It was for an anonymous contest to write about some feeling. I wasn't expecting it to get anywhere, because I was afraid some might see it as a personal attack. I was pleased to win third.

This is a great poem! I am so glad the author put lots of thoughts into
this poem. The author's words are strong, clear, interesting, scary and
creative. I agree with these words and pondered on the theme of this poem. The artwork is awesome and goes well with these words. This poem is well needed. Great poem!.....Maria

Oh, Beth, I do share your concern for our nation, as I am sure others from our generation do. It is our youth however that I fear we've lost.
Too many have fallen for the lies and deception that surrounds us, Too many have not been taught our history and are doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past. It is true, that a house divided against itself can not stand but I pray that works like yours and others will in some small way work to unite us through a common language and through the art of the written word.

This is a very well written poem you have penned for the writing prompt - feelings. You used very good descriptive and very true words. It is kind of scary these days. You used very good imagery too. My only hope is in Jesus. Thank you for sharing. love and blessings, Teri

Thank you Teri. Yes you are right. Jesus is our hope, and in the end he will take matters in his hand. In the meantime, how many friends or even family with be angry enough to turn their back on us.

It is most mystifying times, yes? While there is "a division", both sides say exactly the same thing about the other side. So where does "the truth" lie?

Excellent use of alliteration, and imagery. Your metre and rhymes spot on.

Just one suggested change in this line:

What entity has drained men's (man's) brains? in order to include all mankind.

The important lesson for us to learn here today in my opinion, is how to keep on loving, caring and communicating with others despite having polar opposite opinions. The truth might in fact lie somewhere between the two.

A fine poem to read today, and many thanks for sharing. :))

You are correct. Both sides are saying some of the same things about the other side. We have to continue to love each other no matter what we believer to be true. I think we need to be open minded enough to listen the same sources the other side listens to and compare what is being said. The truth might lie somewhere in the middle, but as long as our mind is completely made up, if we're wrong were're likely to stay wrong. This division is scary. I like your suggestion. I will change it.

This poem states everything I agree with...very well stated. I too fear for our country but I can't see a solution in sight unless people wake up, as you said. Thanks for sharing. :)

Thank you so much for the review and the affirming comments. I hope people will lighten up and stop tearing those who disagree with them apart. It is dangerous to be so angry and divided. I really appreciate the six stars.

I wish I still had a six-star rating left because it would be yours. I too am very worried about the direction of our nation. I would have never dreamt that I would live to see a day when I worry about our freedoms, our democracy, and the humanity of the U.S.A. When was it decided that wrong is right? That riots have become the norm. When police who have always been respected are now being hunted and killed. Every thing now that happens is because of racism. Isn't killing police officers just because they are police officers racist too? So those who have accused us of being racist are also racist. Interesting. I get down on my knees to ask the Lord to help. I know He is just waiting for the right time. Everything is done in His time. God bless!

Thank Patty. I really appreciate the review and the virtual six stars. It is a scary world we live in and I know God is in charge. I just wonder how far He will allow it to go and how long peoplw will continue to believe lies and pass them on to others. Many things are happening that I never espected to see.

I agree that I never expected to see neither. I just don't understand how we have a president that is Hell bent on ruining our nation. He started in the first 24 hours and its getting worse by the day.

Loved the alliteration that bounced out from so many lines of this poem. The opening line from verse two, in fact all of verse two delivers and promotes a message so similar to my own beliefs. In my view so deserving of six stars

You did a great job, Beth, with your poem that is so current to society's ills. Your lines read well, the alliteration of s, w, h, d etc. work well, the end rhymes and some internal rhyme work to carry your message, and that message is clearly stated. Your theme is so important to all whether all agree or not. Your image fits perfectly, too. Everything you mentioned is true, and shapes our future.
Respectfully, Jan

Thank you Jan, I appreciate the review and comments. I was afraid some would take it personally although I didn't mean it that way. The division in this country really bothers me.
