Funny it took you so long to regain your mother's trust! This is an interesting account of the friends who drew your attention. So many of them seemed to offer a trip to the darker side. Excellent thought about friends alibi-ing one another on occasion. So your brother ended up marrying Steve's sister. Maybe that's one of the reasons you remember him. judi

I had friends who were beyond description for Fanstory sensibilities.

I had to have a giggle at this post Bill, you've brought back memories of my miscreant youth, it reminded me of a time it was legal to drink when turning 21, (18 came later) when a plain clothes guy asked me if I was 21, as a smart-arse I said, "No" he said, "you better leave" but I'm 22, I don't think he was happy! Well done, blessings Roy

There's nothing like being busted in front of your mother. What a great story you've written about a time period when curfews were still in place, and parents trusted their kids until they gave them reason not to....I enjoyed your story!

Bill - Thank you for sharing this well written glimpse of your past. Now here is a question, and I do not expect an answer: based on your teens, how does that influence your perception of your kids behavior? LOL - Jerry

We watched our kids like they were already suspected of something.

Those were the strained days. So many excuses that were not true and a lot of fun that our parents never knew about, we thought. Turns out they had an inkling. I was dating for two years before my father knew. This story is so typical of teenagers.

Note:
Steve (eventuality) moved back to>>you mean 'eventually'

Bill,

Oh, my what tales we weave when first we ... something... to deceive. At any rate, sounds like we were doing about the same things - in different parts of the country. Hmmmm.... good times.

hahaha! Wonder where Steve is now?

Thoroughly enjoyed this story...so many parts hit home with me - though I am a girlie -albeit an old one. You have a talent for bringing the old days right up close and personal. Your end lines are hilarious!!

Shame on you, worrying your mother like that. Now that you have children, you know what that was like. Oh, dear, the things we get up to when we're young. lol

I did mine, too. There wasn't much they could get away with. I'm so glad I don't have little ones these days.
