What a delightful memory and a great poem. My parents read to me too, when I was growing up and it is such a fantastic thing to do for kids, even teenagers until they won't let you anymore! LOL

Darling poem that is so sweet. I was never read to, so when my children came along I was sure to dedicate myself to reading to them every night. You have such a lovely voice in this piece...it could be a Mother Goose write. Now I read to my cats each night from whatever book I have chosen for myself. It puts them right to lullaby land.

Ah, this was a wonderful memory poem about your mom: it rhymed well, the rhythm was steady and your choice of words was stunning. I remember my father reading Bible stories to me. Strange, I never wrote a poem about it and I've written many poems.

You were truly blessed. Sadly I have no such memories. My two older sisters fostered the desire to read and the love of reading and oddly enough the sound of my own voice. To this day I love reading aloud as I love to hear my voice reciting some of my favorite writings, poems, scriptures, etc. I have been blessed with a deep and sonorous bass voice and I am most grateful for it.

A lovely and happy poem for the contest. I used to read poems and stories to my children at bedtime. Sometimes one of the poems will come to me, and I can still recite it from memory. I hope they remember those days as fondly as you do.
