What a wonderful story you have written, a story of miracles. Proof that the attitude one takes towards trials determines how we overcome them. Thankful for the person who donated the money so that this young man could have what he needed. But more than the money, the words of confidence helped him press toward his goal.

I am relatively new to writing. In the beginning, I did not know what direction I would take. Now after about six months of writing, I can see in my characters, or the story itself, goodness, inspiration, love, and faith.

We deal with so much bad news every day, that we all too often do not see the goodness there is all around us. If, in my writings, people can find goodness and belief. Then I feel I have accomplished the purpose of those writings.

Winning a contest is not the purpose of my entry. They allow an unknown writer such as myself to reach more people just like you.

I agree with you, this is a great place to share what is on our hearts.

This is truly an inspiring story and gave me chills up and down my spine.
It had to be a moving experience for Terry knowing that people really do care and that God always sends help when it is most needed.
It is beautifully written and tender to the core.
Great entry.
Best of luck.
Marie

Thank you so much for your kind words. Faith has played a huge roll in my life, and that is reflected in my writings.

Thank you for your wish about the contest. I certainly appreciate it, but winning a contest is not my reason for entering. Contests allow an unknown, and new writer, such as myself to reach more people, just like you.

I appreciate your taking the time to read my story.
Any positive comments I have received on my writing are very humbling for me. I write for the joy of writing, and if I can bring that joy to a reader, then I know my writings have a purpose.

This is a wonderful story whether made up by a mind full of compassion or true. The only change I could see is that you leave out the second "motionless" in paragraph 2. Best of luck in the contest.

First, thank you for taking the time to read my story. I am glad you liked it. Second, your comment; "made up by a mind full of compassion or true." I spent twenty-eight years as a police officer in a large city north of Detroit. I became a police officer to help people. I can look back on those years and know, I did that. I cared for people, especially the young, poor, and elderly. So, in my writings, you will see I lean towards the inspirational or a happy ending. Sadly, during my time, I witnessed too many bad endings.

I do encourage you to read some of my other stories. I especially recommend "Buried Memories." It is a true story about my father-in-law. Talk about inspiration. His story is AMAZING.

Your well written short story serves as inspiration to us all to keep trying to overcome adversities of all kinds. The cash and the notebook were a nice touch to make the story qualify for the contest. I liked the anonymity of the donor. One could wonder whether it was a man, a woman, a wealthy business person, or even a drug dealer with a hidden heart. Nice story.

I have known people that have overcome severe injuries or health issues. Their no big deal attitude amazed me. I would get the flu and act like I was dying. They fought through injuries and illnesses. Now before I utter "poor me," I think of what they and thousands of others went through or going through and shut up.

I am so glad you enjoyed the story. I would encourage you to read some of my others. I lean to inspirational stories or at least happy endings.

I like your comment about the donor. I purposely left it unknown. I felt it would allow a reader like yourself to imagine who it was.
