This is a lovely tribute to Mastery. I, too, enjoyed his life story and his Private Eye series of Cleve Hawkins. I purchased three of his books including his life story some time ago. He will be missed.

Yes, Bob was one of Life's best men. Such a gentleman who always had time for a review or advice. He will be missed on here for sure. FanStory came with Mastery as one of the sages when I first joined in 2008. Now, this site will never be the same without him.
Thank you for such a perfect story about him. I did not know he was a foster child. I will have to look up "Falling up the Stairs" if it is in his portfolio.

I absolutely agree. Though I enjoyed Bob*s PI stories with Cleve, NOTHING could compare to the crazier and scarier than fiction true story of the way his humble life began.
He pulled no punches and laid it all on the line~ warts, included. Which made it so powerful.

A fine tribute, Roy. As you say, a real gentleman and a fine writer. Always supportive. Sad to hear of his passing but you may be right - perhaps he is enjoying time in the coffee house of writers where we shall all meet up again one day.

I didn't hear that he had passed away. I had my own ups and downs with him and in the end I stopped reviewing him. He had a lot of talent though, I enjoyed most of that book, falling up the stairs, I thought most of it was well written but we had a quarrel over a review and that was the end of that. Your tribute remembers someone who contributed here and upheld a certain standard in writing, that's for sure. I think he once told me the book was available on Amazon. estory

This a wonderfully rhymed poem which tells us what a great writer he was and how much he did on this site. He will be missed. I do hope we all meet someday. I was always thinking about asking for a possible fanstory conference where we could all meet. But COVID squashed that idea.
