As far as I can see this does all that a modern tanka should. The important third line works well both as a satori to the kami-no-ku and as a pivot into the the second half of the tanka, the shimo-no-ku.

I apologize that I am out of sixes for this lovely tanka. It is truly exceptional. It may be my favorite tanka that I've ever read. Your word choices are breathtaking--pregnant fields, burgeoning plenty. Each word more than pulls it's weight. And I love your melodies that settle in the turning line and ripple through both parts of the tanka.
My tanka lady is back. This will be on the leader board for sure.
