We're already learning about Dorothina. I've been told to show, not tell. You are doing a great of showing. More good allusions. Is this a foreshadowing? Is she, as one of my friends used to say, 'wearing a red shirt'? Ah ha! Good foreshadowing. Moving on. I will do 3 a day. I will read it as if it is a book I'm reading. If you choose to read mine, you do not need to write a review. I was teacher, so I love writing reviews.

It may be slow going as I am battling Basal Cell Carcinoma, but I will have a look at it. Appreciate the review.

At least he knows he's mad, though that hasn't helped Dorothina. I thought it worked well in this chapter having Dorothina thinking of death as she unkowingly walked to her own. Another good chapter Brett.
Cheers

An Adler on the loose doesn't make a person feel real safe. Especially, if you're a Dorothina knocked on her butt and in pain. But, I'm guessing, the story doesn't end here. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Do not like nurses like her so what else does one do in a story like this but rub them off?

I like this as well. There is something not quite right about that "hen's teeth" quote. Barked and wailed don't work so well in the same sentence. Dorothina isn't a pleasant and sad to see her go character and that's a good choice. Bad things just don't happen to good people.

So this lady is the next victim of the killer. He learns something about his victims before he kills them. I am interesting to learn more about the things that happening hos these crime will be solved. I'm looking forward to your next post.

This is another well-written and intriguing chapter Brett. I hope to continue following it while I'm traveling, but I might fall behind.

One thing I found a little off - I couldn't envision short-cropped hair being pulled up into a tight bun.

Wow! What a stark chapter. I guess we will see what happened, next, in the upcoming chapter. You did well creating the eerie atmosphere and I guess we knew what was coming. No spags. Tony Fawcus said Bob Hartson is home so hopefully we will hear from him again, soon. Corrected...you may know Bob died.

Hi Brett, what an unpleasant woman, and she claims to be a doctor. A person you would think who cared about others. So when Adler strikes again I can't conjure up a lot of sympathy.
Dorothina's drifted mind = Dorothina's drifting mind
Nothing wrong with the sentence, I just think it reads more correctly using 'drifting'. Ulla:)))

Brett:

So the infamous Karl Adler strikes again. Would it be wrong to wonder if the old saying, "What goes around comes around" may have just struck (pun fully intended) Dr. Dorothina Fairchild, who could not be bothered to comfort the mother of a stillborn child? I wonder if her feelings about death are changing now?

Whew. What a ride. That is one captivating well paced narrative. Your build up of suspense was excellent and quite impactful for the reader. Although your description of Dorithina had us not liking her very much in the beginning somehow you managed to evoke sympathy for her at the end. I get the feeling that she may be down but I wouldn't count her out yet. I hope there are more installments to come. If you do let him take her out I hope she at least leaves him with a limp. I'd like to think that she got in at least one solid hit! Kudos
