Hi Janet,

Thus is such a cute and funny story of a true experience! Hahaha

I hate to go to the dermatologist too, but it is a must sometimes, lol.

The Naked Truth is a perfect title too! I wouldn't go back to the same dermatologist either, I'd keep going back to a different one each time, maybe...Oh, no! a cute dermatologist? Eeekkk. Never :))

All the best,
Senyai

Thank you for sharing your story. That sounds like an embarrassing situation to be in. Glad you were able to get your finger looked after by someone else. Well written

You were more amenable than most patients. There are many doctors that prefer patients to be owned especially, surgeons. No matter the surgery many cutters prefer the patient to be nude under the gown. I had problems with this when I was getting heart surgery and all they needed was my right arm.

Thank you for your thoughtful, encouraging and fun review.

I guess every surgeon and hospital is different. I once had a lump removed from under my arm with local antistatic and most of my clothes on, including my shoes. When I had this lump removed from my finger, I was nude under the gown and like you said all they needed was my arm (or more specifically, my hand).

It really got to me when I had a trigger finger fixed on my right hand and was stripped to my skivvies under the gown.
    Keep up the good work.

Such a situation wouldn't have gone down well with me either! At least the dermatologist was cute. lol And my Mum had the same mantra. :)

Just two comments if it's okay: in the following 'By now, my head is spinning' I think you should stay in the past tense so: 'By now, my head was spinning'

"Dr. Mc Michaels will be with you shortly," she said in her perky voice as she exited the room. - comma needed after 'voice'

Good luck in the contest. It's well-written and deserves to do well.

This was amusing. And weird--in a good way. One of the most interesting and entertaining snippets in here is the "Bible Bump" thing. Gosh. I feel like there may be an opportunity to allude to that in the opening line, which could amount to a more effective hook.
This would be a bit of a tease since the lump turned out to be only a nuisance, but you could also open with something like, "I admit the lump made me a little nervous, in spite of it being a mere 'Bible Bump' in old-fashioned parlance." I don't know. You had a good opening--that's just an off-the-cuff idea.
Also, you mention in your comments that the doctor was cute. Don't leave that out of the story. It would add more color and may be very funny to describe how you felt when you realized this attractive dermatologist was going to look you over, unshaved legs and all. I imagined the doctor being an old bald guy with a stethoscope. I had an experience like that being examined by a very attractive woman doctor, which I would characterize as embarrassing in a comical sort of way. (It was a cyst on my butt, so you can imagine.)
Loved the ending!

Thank you John for your thoughtful, encouraging and fun review.
I wish I had read it before the contest ended and could have incorporated some of your stellar suggestions. I did think of changing his name to Dr. Mc Dreamy but this the story didn't sound as real to me. But...with a little thought, it could have been worked in.

    Thanks again.

Your author notes were funny. ("...he really was cute.") I like this true story. Mellissa should have given you some comfort information instead of just repeating herself. And what...no blood work and he said you were fine? Heck, I don't blame you for not going back, even if he was cute. lol

I smiled in the end. Before that, I held my breath, wishing for nothing more. So glad the outcome...and the ending was a complete u-turn...which brought hope, and then the validation from author's notes.
As usual, it brings me joy reading from you...and I so enjoyed this little story.
Have a great day Janet.
My very best.

Oh yes indeed, advancing years do indeed introduce "procedures" never endured before. Having enjoyed a life of good health, my examinations have been brief and eventless, but not so in recent times. Years I'd "sun abuse" in my early years, (I didn't know better) are reaping a harvest. But nothing bad, and I'm claiming nothing. Beautifully written Janet, I can relate. Blessings Roy

Thank you Roy for your thoughtful and encouraging review. I was not a sun abuser but my daughter was and being a fair haired, freckled girl, I worry for her as she gets to our stage of life.

What a funny ending! This makes me think of all the times, when at age 74, I still get asked the same question before I can even see the doctor: When was your last period? even when it's on my record that I had a hysterectomy when I was 40! I hope you got that bump taken care of!

Thank you Susan for your thoughtful, encouraging and fun review. they do as strange questions. You would think they would look at our chart.
I did get the bump (ganglion cyst) removed. It was my third one so I'm used to the procedure. But, we had moved and had new doctors etc.
