You did a great job with your heartfelt contest entry. The image is sad, but not without hope when she see the man who really wants her. I have read about dogs and people--esp vets who adopt when they both are missing a leg etc. Best wishes.

A lovely story. The connection between humans and their animals is wonderful. Dogs will not judge humans, and neither should humans judge dogs on the basis of appearance. A man who is prepared to accept a dog with imperfections would definitely make an excellent partner for a woman in the same situation, needing love. A great story. Good wishes for your entry.

Yes it's good that you put in your author notes I recognized that dog right away. Nice story of unconditional love and how the person that wanted to buy the dog and the dog have things in common. They would be able to love each other in a way that someone else wouldn't be able to. Good luck in the contest

A very interesting story. People love dogs and the idea of picking a handicapped, dog in such a condition from a shelter will spark the the readers' empathy. They love an underdog. Plus, that last line may touch another part of their hearts.
