lancellot:

The term that blood is thicker than water came to mind as I read this chapter. On the one hand, Edward at least feigns concern for his injured father although I suspect he just wanted the gate open to wreak more havoc on his father's men. Alexander, on the other hand, seemed to be genuinely concerned that his son had been killed.

This is another great and well written chapter. I really enjoyed reading it and was hooked from the start. Most places had me on the end of my seat. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you very much. I'm one chapter away from the ending.

You definitely draw the reader in with this mystery. They are invited to speculate what might be happening. This is a great sensory imagery. The silence is deadening. This will keep the readers coming back: "I'm afraid it appears that Edward and a few others near the limit of our range escaped." Good foreshadowing: "We won't see my son for some time, but we will see him again."

Thank you very much, Liz. Just two more posts to go. The final part and an epilogue.

A powerful and edgy chapter, Lance. A lot of up-close, graphic depiction, of the horrors of technology when it is so much advanced over the enemy. It's hard to imagine what savage hopelessness a man must have felt when he encountered the first explosive device. You described it so well, Lance. This is certainly worthy of my last six.

Thank you very much, Jay. This book is just about over. It feels weird not having anymore to edit.

This story is like watching a movie!
Vividly descriptive. The account is gripping, fast moving, beautifully laid out with spacing, and the dialogue adds meaning to every action.
Thank you for sharing.
Best wishes and all success.
Just a little nit...
*becoming dark *speaks* on... Perhaps "specks"?

This is very well written and you did a great job describing the horrible scene of war. You also did a great job with the emotion.

He did it because when one is about order the death of a Duke's son (missing a word maybe 'to' when one is about TO order the death)

"Go. Bring the gate down so that I may care for my injured father." ('that' it an extra word and not needed)

Thank you very much. I will fix those. One more chapter to go and then it's over.

I rather like this story set in a fascinating way in another realm, with an excellent way of presenting an original plot with people, or at least Paul from another realm, here, going there, and bringing with a new method of fighting, which I suspect will win, albeit with a struggle, well done, good post, blessings Roy

I don't usually read fantasy or about war, but I did this time and I am glad I did! This was an unusual, though
an interesting and picturesque read. The battle is presented well enough to see all the horror in my head myself. You put in great scenes that describe it, like with the suffering woman who got killed. I just it found a bit hard to switch between so many characters when I don't know much about the background, but I see you have great writing skills nonetheless. Thank you for creating, well done!
