Bill, a good story. Dean was quite a character. He reminds me of my brother's friend nicknamed, Shakes. I am a few years older than you and we girls were interested in gossiping about who was and who was not "cherry popping."
well done.
Regards,
Mary

What memories-I remember my father (a cop) telling me that a girl I was dating was known as the Berrie Bike (berrie being a town) I never got over the thought of grease and chains, an excellent read, very well written, ****kahpot

Great story of the 'glory' years. Dean is a character! I felt like I'd meet him before - and probably did though he was a Billy or a Walt in my day. It's been a long time since I heard the phrase, "cherry-popper' . . . LOL.

Bill Schott, thinking back to before my FanStory hiatus, I've always enjoyed reading your fine written adventures, and this one is right up there with the rest. Admittedly, I can relate to about everything you write; although, I wouldn't always admit it. LOL. Thanks for sharing another fun story.

Comment from Gloria ....
I got a charge out of this, especially the strict discipline after graduating high school was to find a barstool. Hey it rhymes and it works.
Dean sounds like quite the character, but adds depth and spice to a most interesting addition to your book.
Really well written. :)

Yours take here sounds vaguely familiar almost as I had lived it myself only five years later. I'm enjoying this immensely. I'd write one myself but I'd don't have 50 friends. Keep'em coming.

Interesting how differently boys stories or their teen years are than girls. Even girl cherry popper. I guess you must have been pleased with Nixon's decision. I wonder if you meant, he changed the age of 'majority' or the age of 'maturity'. The majority of us didn't get our age changed that year.

The age of majority is the threshold of adulthood as recognized or declared in law. It is the moment when minors cease to be considered such and assume legal control over their persons, actions, and decisions, thus terminating the control and legal responsibilities of their parents or guardian over them.

My bad. Thanks for explaining. I don't rememher hearing it put that way. It didn't get changed in time for me to enjoy it. I had to grow up the long way.

I had no idea that people "popped cherries" or whatever in high school. Well, you can see what a sheltered existence I had. I do recall more of that happening in college when kids were away from home. Thanks for sharing about your "pump jocky" days.

You jumped ahead a piece, Bill. Or did I miss a chapter or two? Last I recall, you were like, in the 7th or 8th grade. Wait, didn't your sister interrupt your first kiss?
I'm sure I was as cool as milk toast dropped on an open-toed sandal.
So you married the one who started your reputation as a Don Juan, correct? I really do enjoy your autobiographical pieces.
