I enjoy your writng. I'm looking forward to seeing where this story is going.
It seems to me he did right to send the girl home. The boys were probably thr ones who dropped the concrete and he wasn't able to catch them. Since he was on leave from the police departmentm, he wasn't on duty ao he really had nothing to report. I was surpirsed he would still be driving a police can on leave of absence.

Actually it happens in chapter three where the chief tells him he needs to lay low for awhile and takes his authority away. I messed some folk up by mentioning it already in my author notes. Thanks for reminding me how it might be confusing.
