Beautiful poem like a parabole - I see their blank stares
burdens rend their hearts and souls
can I ease their pain?
- Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings

Compelling and thought-provoking. Interesting tri-part form. Is this characteristic of haibun? Is the prose section part of the your work? Or is it a parable from the Bible? Or? Powerful piece regardless.

Hi, Elizabeth. I did write this in an old-style setting. What I've read about a Haibun this is close. I read an entry in the Haibun contest that was this style and loved it. I had to write one. Thank you for your kind words!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Oh, this is a haiburn! It is always a delight to read one of these special poems and prose, all of it very well combined in dialog. I think the dialog is a plus. There are beautiful nature descriptions that call to the senses. A pleasure to read.

This is a beautiful haibun that provides a lot of food for thought. Before we can walk in the shoes of another, we need to take off our own. We must be willing to step out of our comfort zone to feel another's burden. Then we can try to alleviate their pain and suffering - with deeper understanding. That is what Jesus did when he bore our sins and took them to the grave with him. Thank you for sharing this insightful and inspiring piece.

Dear Papa,
I live the haiburn and have written some myself.
This is great as I've never seen a haiburn with dialogue in it.
I got a bug choked up in parts. You do an excellent job of bringing feelings to this poem.
Your summation haiku is very nice.
Never seen a biblical haiburn either.
Very uplifting read.
Take care,
Katiemae

Interesting take on the haibun poetry format. A bit long poem but that is fine as it works here. Your Christian faith shines through here. I can appreciate that although I am not a Christian, more of a Buddhist if anything at all.

PAPASSMIKE:
You have written a beautiful Haibun. I keep saying I'm going to give it a try but haven't gotten around to it yet. You pose an awesome question. How often do any of us go the extra mile for anyone these days? Keep up the good work.

Man who is forced to labor complains about the burden he is forced to bear. That man gives little if any thought to the burden that Jesus bore, the full weight of the sin bequeathed to us through our fore father Adam. Jehovah God bore an even heavier burden, the knowledge that his son, his only begotten son would have to one day surrender his perfect human life for the sake of some who would not only deny him but ridicule his very mission to repurchase them from the hand of Satan the Devil.
