The sense of smell is the most memory and sensual sense of all, it's the one that attracts, sight also plays a part, but I know in me, smell sparks many desires, but memory of beautiful places. You're right Sally, beautifully written, good luck, blessings Roy

Good contest entry, good luck with it. I love the last line! Most poetry provides good imagery, at least good poetry. But don't recall one providing the good smell of Channel #5. That was my wife's favorite perfume. Good Job.

I love how you describe the applying of perfume. Your mom was such an elegant lady! I can't use perfume as my husband is too sensitive to smells and I could never tolerate the feel of paint on my nails or even to grow them long. But I do admire ladies who can do all those things well and stylishly!

Your first stanza took me by surprise because I'm ignorant of how a woman thinks. I never knew a touch of perfume meant so much to a woman's "completeness." My wife has never expressed such thoughts openly to me, perhaps to my daughter. Still, I enjoyed your poem. Rod

If I am going out with my lovely wife then yeah I will make the extra effort to look and smell good for her. My wife however looks and smells good all the time : )) She is not big on makeup unless we are really going out, which I am more that happy with. Good luck with this one Sally : ))
