Peacocks are beautiful birds. I wonder why with so many animals it is the male that is better looking than the female. Your poem about them is informative reads easily. The rhyme and rhythm are perfect. Good luck with the contest.

Someone told me it's because the females have to protect thier nests or young, so they are drab as to not draw attention of predators. I'm not sure if that's true or not. Thanks so much for the review. :)

That is certainly a well written poem about the magnificent peacock! You have described it splendidly, and with amusing contrast to the drab female. Best wishes for your entry in the contest.

Thank you for reading and reviewing my poem, I always appreciate it. :)

This is a beautiful poem about peacocks. I also think the males are stunning in their plumage, and I have admired them since childhood. I have seen some in white, which are also beautiful, but I don't know whether they're peacocks or pea hens.
Your rhyming stanzas are well written, and I didn't find any errors.

Dear Mystery Birder,
I agree - peacocks are quite fascinating! Of course, almost every time I've seen one in person it's so frustrating waiting for them to show off that fan. They are picky and temperamental. Of course, it may have something to do with the fact I am not a female peacock? Nah. They're just finicky. hahahaha
This was fun. Good luck!

This is a great poem that offers true tribute to one of nature's most majestic birds. Peacock feathers have delighted and been prized by humans since time immemorial -- with good reason.
new born ==> newborn
everyday. ==> every day.

It does seem odd that in the animal world, the males are brightly coloured and yet the females look dowdy and yet in the human world it is the females that dress up to attract the male, maybe human males are lazy? He he he, a fine poem, great rhymes and I loved this story, love Dolly x

The females are that color for protection on the nest. I love the peacocks, but we see hummingbirds in all of their glory. What a wonderfully written poem.
Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

I love peacocks as well. It's amazing the personalities and colors they possess. My favorite bird is the Owl. They almost look wise to me. Thanks for sharing your excellent poem!
