Because I have lost so many younger than myself, I tend to wonder if we will be given enough time with any to share all we expect. I understand that we must enjoy and make the best of what we have because we do not know when our time is done... I don't worry about that...I worry about those I love (so young) who pass before me. Smiles, Carol

Dear Jaybird,
Your reflective poem is so beautiful for all, but especially enjoyed by us in our twilight years.
I am just beginning to really live my life at age 63, and I have so much to do yet. I hope I can part the earth knowing I made a difference here on earth. Even if is only a small difference.
Your rhyming words are exceptional as I know you put a lot of work into it.
Good luck in the contest.
God bless you, Jaybird.

Although I am younger than you, I also find myself thinking regularly about my exit from this life--it is good to examine our past, and decide how we are going to assuage our mind to the reality of passage onward with only our legacy left in the hearts and minds of those who knew us
All the Best!
Phil

Hello Jaybird1,
Nice piece of poetry having lucid as well as perfectly matching the theme phraseology, smooth flow throughout from the beginning to the end with lovely rhyming scheme, and beautifully depicting its theme.
3rd stanza is particularly noteworthy.

You have again written simply and well about living life well - with care and caution, but also with wisdom and realism. I like the analogy with sailing, a voyage to the destination at the end. Your thoughts are very well expressed, and contain sound wisdom, as always.

This is so beautiful, I always enjoy your poetry. This one tells us that at the end of a life lived well, there is no end, but a new beginning. Thanks for sharing.

This excellent, expressive poem makes impressive use of symbols to describe our "sail" through life and how to make it the best possible,
living well, in peace, so we can face the afterlife with peace.

Peace and harmony are the key to sail through life - I hope you are enjoying the sail! The author's words are freeing, interesting and thought provoking. I pondered on these words and know peace and harmony fill
