I found this a lovely tribute and I really enjoyed the poem. And I was once again reminded of the children's rhyme -
A wise old owl sat in an oak.
The more he heard the less he spoke.
The less he spoke the more he heard.
Who aren't I like that wise old bird?

Oh, yes, I remember that. My grandmother always said it a lot. Thank you for saying that.

That should be 'why' not 'who' in the last line.

I know. 8-)

What a cute owl picture and owl story. Your rhymes have a good rhythm and flow well.
It's a mystery who the other perch sitter is? Is it another bird? I know it's not another owl since they speak differently.
Good job

The other percher was me, perched on a rock watching the owl while he watched me. Thanks for reviewing.

I love this poem, Yvonne. Where have all my sixes gone? Perfect rhyme and rhythm and such a wonderful picture you conjure up in our minds! I can see that this is not your first poem, and I sincerely hope it won't be your last! LOL

This poem is so beautifully written. I love how it flows so melodically from line to line and tells a rather intriguing story of the old bird and the lovely watcher. You have a knack for rhyming so effortlessly and with nothing ever seeming contrived. Very nicely done. A very enjoyable poem in every respect. MM
