Beautiful, very lovely. The gentle kiss - and the power and strength of a mother bird's love! The provision and protection she shows! This type of poem is perfect for the Villanelle format. I really liked this one.

I really enjoyed reading this poem. I like the color that you chose for the script as well. It made it easy to read. The lines flowed together really well and it was a pleasure to take it in. Well done.

The author's words are filled with nature, descriptive and creative. I like
the colors used as it matches the artwork so well. The poem flows
and connects well. The author gives a lovely description of the nest at

This was a great Villanelle, Yvonne. I loved the picture and your explanation of the format. I really liked the last line of your narrative notes about one of the most famous. Your words showed the love the mother bird had for her chicks-she fed them, she loved them, she protected them during the night. Very well done.

Beautifully done villanelle! You do these French forms so well and you also make the meter so smooth. I love the picture you draw for us of a mother sparrow keeping her brood safe and well fed.

A perfect poem for Mother's Day! Even God likes comparing His Love to a mother bird. Under His wings, we are safe!

You did an AWESOME job, Yvonne. Your talent and love of nature is evident in this complex villanelle. The presentations is excellent--the black background sets off your words well and indicates the coming night, the color scheme of the font shows nature's green feeling, the little bird is precious, your words flow smoothly with great rhymes to carry the story, and your message is clear. Yes, the mother bird does all she can to protect her babies. I like that she dreams about when she was a fledgling like the babies she is caring for now. I love that you posted this on Mother's Day as there are mothers everywhere--not just the human type. Your words are descriptive and filled with great imagery. I could see everything as I read. Your repeating lines fit in seamlessly, too. Thanks for sharing a beautiful villanelle.

Hi Yvonne, it's a lovely poem. The wee sparrow mother is taking care of her wee chicks. The mother instinct kicks in and she makes sure they are all safe. How sweet this poem is. A joy to read. Ulla:)))

I don't like villanelles because there is (for me) too much repetition. Also, I am probably a Philistine with no real appreciation for fine things. But I find this piece quite lovely. It feels peaceful but it sounds dark and foreboding in a subtle, understated way. This is good work, and I can see why you are a recognized writer.
