Oops! What can I say? We've all been there, putting our foot in our mouth. I guess he didn't ask her why it was still there, and not removed as per the original plan? Thanks for sharing. Good read.

I'm hoping it turns out that the demolition has simply been delayed--City Hall was closed so I couldn't find out. Fingers crossed!
I'm guessing that Scott was nonplussed!

Oh I did read it...and I'm so sorry to hear the eyesore persists! That woman listening to Scott's righteous tirade ought to be nominated OFF that planning committee! It's a shame Scott has to gaze at it across the street... The things some people call "artistic" THESE DAYS! Boggles the mind, I tell ya!--Karenina

I'm curious, did Scott tell you what he said after the lady announced she was on the planning committee? That had to be an awkward moment. Was he true to his convictions though? Would love to have been there.

Liz,
Ain*t that always the case? Open mouth, enter foot?
"Aw, man! I would usually never dream of saying such a thing except that this guy in the other room is SUCH a sleezeball. Have you met him yet? I know. I know! We are supposed to make nice to everyone at these company parties but I couldn*t stand it another second in his presence. He's so drunk I do not know how he's still standing, but he managed to hit on me within two minutes of our introduction. And I *personally* saw him hitting on three other girls within a fifteen period, including the CEO. Gag!"
~death stare~
"Oh, Nancy. Please don*t say that*s your husba~**
*******
Scene at a local supermarket:
"Marla Renee! For heaven's sakes!" (charming laugh) "You STILL haven*t had that baby yet?!?!"
MR (dryly): "Well, hi, Grace. No. I had the baby six months ago. This is just fat."
*********
The last one actually happened to me. Real life. (I was the MR.)
Gotta love it.
Fun post!

Hilarious! I know of a few such faux pas--my father was infamous--I wrote two flashes about his.

Lol! Poor Scott! It is a reminder that maybe we need to start with a breath and find out who it is we are about to share our opinions with. Sorry that the "messterpiece" was not cleared up on time. Hope it will be soon!

Of course I don't know for sure, but I bet the lady from the project planning committee was delighted with the exhibit. It doesn't matter how big a mess something turns out to be, someone is always proud to have been part of it.
Maybe they'll save money and leave it up til the next Earth Day. I like your word "messterpiece." That made me laugh.

Ha! What a funny little piece. I enjoy your sense of humor.
Poor Scott really put his foot in his mouth, didn't he. I can just imagine the look on that lady's face, lol.
Have a good evening.

I agree that there is a better way to celebrate "earth Day" than making a new and ugly mess. I feel sympathy to your eye sore which I have either have gone away or you are used to it.
Well done.

Well, that woman must need stronger glasses or to repeat art appreciation in college. I like the way you labeled it messterpiece, Liz. You did a good job expressing how you feel about the monstrosity. I hope it goes away soon.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

OOPs... that's called foot in mouth I think... one never knows who or what may be happening when we let loose with our emotions spontaneously. Guess she probably didn't approve. Funny! Smiles, Carol
