Carol,

This is another example of people making assumptions and talking just to have something to say. Irritating to say the least. Though I'm proud of you for handling things so nicely. Good stuff!

I was proud of me too because that's not exactly what I wanted to say...but tact and thoughts of my son's future business relationships kept my tongue sweet and smiling. Carol

Judged by appearance and making the grace of recognizing a genuine and good person, unfortunately we all have days like this - he wife of the first investor responded, "Yes, you're the woman who catered all this food. Quite an unexpected spread they asked you to provide."

Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

I was gracious and smiling all the time, taking my time to announce who I was and that the food was free. Oh well! Smiles, Carol

During filming, I (wear) several different hats. (wore) Be mindful of tenses. The story was in past tense like the event already happened except this paragraph, which was written in present tense like the event was happening now.

The crew (was setting) up for another shot. The extras (were milling) about inside and out. (set) (milled) By changing these words to nouns the sentence shows rather than tells.

Thank you for sharing and stay safe.

It looked spectacular, if I must say so myself.
(I thought the writing to here did a great job of bringing the reader up to speed of what was happening, the setting and scene, and this line gave a good break for some patting on the back in a fun, also good natured/ way. Sounds like a lot of work, and the work was something to be proud of)

My choice of payment is cheap!
(ooo and ahhhs from me too.

Many, but not all(,) know me[,] from this shoot or were extras when Without Grace filmed,
*wanted to suggest maybe move the comma over a little bit. I think it might have been a typo, not sure though)

person, including the one with egg on her face.
(Ha! Oops. And this kind of thing is almost like something you would see in a movie! A fun read, I enjoyed.)

To tell the truth...I wanted to turn around and say some not so nice things...but I didn't and when I saw her later, after they ate, I just smiled so politely and introduced myself. It was awesome. Smiles, Carol

Interesting what you had to say about the many hats worn during the filming of the movie. That was a great spread for everyone. I bet the look on their faces when you told them who she was and how she told them that she did all of the catering herself. And free of charge.

Yes, It was worth all the work I'd done to see the egg all over the lady's face... not much of a lady though. Thanks for the kind review. Smiles, Carol

You nailed her! It's always gratifying when you come up with the perfect line on the spot, instead of twenty seconds after the fact. Great story--congrats to both of you.

Yum! You make it sound so inviting and delicious, Carol. What an awesome bond you and your son display for real. I know he is proud to call you Mom. Those busybodies sure showed their true colors when making comments about the food,, Serves them to have egg on their perfectly made up faces.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Yes, and it made my heart sing because I did it so graciously as if I never heard a word. I hope she had a hard time swallowing the food. Not nice am I? Smiles, Carol

Hi Carole - I didn't realize this was a personal memoir until reading the epilogue. You lead an exciting and challenging life among very talented, creative, but at times demanding associates. It appears you're holding your own. Ha! The descriptions of the food seriously effected my appetite, and I love the elegant setting and fascinating (for the most part) guests. I'm envious.

Oh MAN! I would have catered everyone else and offered those gossiping troublemakers a little saucer of mil to go with their catty remarks! As I would expect of you, you KILLED them with kindness while making your point perfectly clear! You're nicer than I am. I already knew that!
Some people (often those writing the checks)---just aren't happy unless their criticizing something...

i can't tell you how awesome it felt to hold my hand out to her and introduce myself. The minute I said Matthew's Mom, I could read it in her eyes. Payback is awesome at times! LOL Smiling still when I think about it. Smiles and hugs- Carol

I liked the way you responded to the donor's wife. That took strength of character. Gave me a chuckle.

Hitting her with kindness and completely off guard was awesome.. maybe not so nice, but neither was she. Saying stuff when a crowd of people could hear her. I couldn't stop smiling when I introduced myself.
