Hi Katharine.

If sleep is elusive, blue light from computer screens, TV, bright lights, and smart phones can be a problem. There is a lot of info on the internet about that.

Your nonet poem is well written. Lack of sleep is abusive for sure. Squeezing sleeplessness by the neck is a great line.

well, I read at night before going to sleep - don't watch a lot of TV, so all that shouldn't be a problem. who knows. But thanks for the info and for your kind comments.

Good morning - I could have posed for that photo his morning and your poem is spot on. I was exhausted after yesterday, got home and went straight to be....one hour later I was wide awake watching Chicago PD. Woe to us all! Smiles - Carol

Please join our sleep-deprived club! I try to read myself into oblivion - doesn't work. So annoying when we are exhausted and as you say allusive.
Meditation or medication??

well, a friend came to lunch yesterday and brought me a sack of books. Started one last night and it's already getting exciting - fun, but not conducive to sleep. Also have a sudoku book I work on - trying to keep the old noggin working, but again, not a sleep aid.
think I'm on the wrong track. :)

Yes indeed! I've got guests visiting right now, and though I love them, it throws a wrench in my already shaky sleeping schedule. This was funny. You really hit the nail on the head. I can't recall the last time I slept all night, between having to get up to pee and getting too hot, cold, uncomfortable and hearing the neighbor's dog barking, sleep is something desired, but never really attained. Good job.

    thanks, Tom.
Also, I had a friend to supper last night and she came laden with a bag of books!! So, I started one last night and it got exciting right off the bat. Naturally, I read for hours. Dumb.
Good luck with your guests. And the dog. :)

Thanks Katherine. Where would we be without books? What a blessing to be able to read. I appreciate your online friendship. Have a great day.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear you still have trouble with the sleeping. You didn't try bringing your laptop to bed? Plug it in and have Youtube play some soft classical music in the background. (My grandkids use some meditative musical youtube channel and choose to not automatically go to another video) Anyway, your rhyming nonet is well done and sparkles with your humor!
It's negligence (Its) It feels like you meant the possessive here as Its negligence of you is abusive.

oh, right. blast. but thank you for the catch. I do know the difference, just slipped up. Thanks. I do sometimes have Alexa play some pretty classical when I go to bed, but I always read on a book and get all involved. It's amazing how many people have the same problem.

I like the passion or is it rage? of this poem, and the staccato rhyming reinforces that emotion. I'm going through some of that same trouble while trying to get into some of these contests.

yep. this one - a poem a day for a month, PLUS promoting- I didn't think ahead on that part when I entered this contest.
Thanks for reading. Not rage, really. Frustration!
    Good luck with yours.

This was really good and I enjoyed reading it. Also totally relatable, I can feel you pain through the poem. I like this current view on sleep. Alo the way it was ended is funny "better still, appease it.....I wish I could seize it by it's delinquent neck and squeeze it!"

Haha what a fun nonet, Pome Lover. I understand though that lack of sleep in no laughing matter. I enjoyed reading it. You stated your feelings about sleep deprivation well. Great job with the style of the nonet--correct syllable count per line, great image, good scattered rhymes, and a clear message.
Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

thanks, Jan. A friend came to lunch yesterday and brought a sack of books - yay - but started one last night and it got exciting from the get-go. Not exactly a sleep aid.
    Thanks for your neat review.
