Your notes say this is your first attempt at prose. It actually reads more like some free form poetry. I applaud you for getting out of your comfort zone and giving prose a shot. I cross to the dark side (poetry) once in awhile, but am not too good. I'm also in a bit of writers funk myself. Just lost a hard drive along with over twenty chapters of a new book. As Kurt Vonnegut once said, "So it goes."

Yes, I keep hearing that this is more like free verse poetry, but hey, I had to give it a try anyway.
I am sorry you lost your hard drive with over 20 chapters of a new book you were working on. That bites!
Thank you for your encouragement and for reviewing me with an excellent rating.
    Have a terrific week!

This is your first attempt to prose and I do extend my arms in a tacfit compliment. You wrote about your fear of writing...and you wrote about it, and you see, you are still alive and well. I am not an expert either...but once I was like you. Mostly I write hat I know...myself, my hobbies, my likes and dislikes...give it a try, please.

Thanks for the encouraging and insightful review. I needed to stretch my wings and take a chance with prose for a change. Reassessing one's writing skills is a good thing, I believe, from time to time.
Thanks for reviewing me and for giving me an excellent rating.
    Have a wonderful week,

Jesse,

Hmmm... nope. I don't think I'd call this prose, not just yet. You're getting there, but this still reads more like a form of poetry. Why are you starting over? What's happened to make you doubt yourself?

I just finished replying to someone else just now and saying that we shouldn't ever feel we have to compete with others to write. There will always be someone else who's better than us (but then, by definition, that means there will always be someone worse, too.)

We are individuals and we write to please ourselves. But there is ALWAYS someone out there who wants to read what we write -- the trouble sometimes is finding them. But don't doubt YOURSELF. Just do you.

Thanks!

Thanks, Robyn, I guess I am a poet at heart! I appreciate so much your encouragement and candor about how we all tend to compete with each other instead of working together side by side.
Thank you again for reviewing this post and for giving me an excellent rating.
    Have a great week,

You're a wonderful poet, Jesse! Even this prose post reads like a free verse poem. And I don't know whom you are addressing but we all need that kind of loving friend to be with us, swimming with the sea turtles, encouraging our creativity.
By the way, when I saw this post, it said 57 cents and so I added a pump but it suddenly changed it 86 so you must have been in the process of promoting. Virtual six!!

I have so much to say, I don't know where to begin. First, yes, I was in the process of promoting my post, yet I still am grateful for your added member cent pump!
I was aiming for a free verse poem but, thought to stretch my wings a little and do some prose instead.
I began by addressing myself, but then I began talking to my newfound friend whom I love very much. Her name is Denise and she wants more than anything to swim with the Sea Turtles. Thanks so much for the virtual six!
Have a glorious week and again, thanks for your generosity!
