The grass isn't always greener on the other side! Things are replaceable and our mental and physical health are not. I feel sorry for your sister who has not been able to enjoy the benefits and has struggled within for so long. You, on the other hand, are bubbly and filled with life. I think you were dealt the better hand. Smiles - Carol

I wouldn't trade places for anything! (Though I wish I'd had married Tom instead of the Dicks.) Cheers. LIZ

Then I would conclude that you are the luckier one of the two. Your happiness doesn't have much to do with what you have, but more do what goes one in your head. The fact that you are endowed with a great sense of humor and you give back to society by volunteering to help out in community and you have talent and get enjoyment from reading and writing. It sounds like your sister just suffers in spite of what she has.

Ah, yes the twist. Things that look greener are not always, or dare I even say, are mostly not. However, I found myself a bit envious of your sister's good fortune for a moment. But, the flip side is certainly not pleasant. Best wishes for your sister and her unfortunate afflictions.

Silver linings can be deceiving.

Even precious metal tarnished when exposed to toxicity...

Mental illness, depression...

The poem "Richard Cory" by Robinson has always haunted me...

I go back to read it often...

Just to remind myself...

    I have a millionaire brother...

I would not trade places with him under any circumstances...

He calls me the black sheep, as all evaluation is monetary.

    I don't call him...

    At all.

Oh, what a difference. You seem very cheerful and it helps that you take time to be grateful. And you spend time giving to others and volunteering. Those are all perfect antidotes to depression.

Hi Liz.

You have told this in a very sympathetic manner. What we see on the surface isn't always what's cooking inside. Envy is a liar. It only beckons us to the outside, not the inside. What your sister has endured has a sadness that is hard to understand for those that have not experienced it.

Robert

The message comes through loud and clear. All is not well in paradise.
Be thankful you don't have the weight of whatever it is, upon your shoulders. It doesn't sound too good for your sister, I am sorry to say.

It is very difficult to describe depression, an emotional equivalent of not having anything when you have everything a normal person would dream of. One can't judge people by their outward lifestyle. God does a balancing act and warns you well in advance of the oncoming disaster. Unfortunately, your sister seems to have ignored or failed to recognize it. Feel sorry for her.I have come across many such cases in my life. Sad indeed. You seem to have everything your sister doesn't have. A well-balanced outlook on life and a healthy lifestyle. Cheers to that!

You are born unique. Stay unique. Don't imitate others. This is my motto. I have no regrets. We men are sometimes incorrigible. Every Tom, Dick and Harry fall in the same category!:) Just kidding!
