That is such a good story and you kept us in suspense all the way through the story, then your punch line: "The teacher chuckled and squeezed Jacob. "The children in this class are deaf. That's why it said, "Please sign."
Excellent piece.

Thanks Anne. I was hoping my own humor wouldn't fall flat! It just popped into my head and I wrote it down. Glad you enjoyed it. Smiles - Carol

You are welcome, Carol. I loved it.

Carol, you have a crazy sense of humour! I love it! I was just thinking that maybe the nine-year olds were two young to understand the connection with the words he chose. Good Job!

I really don't know where this one came from - lol. Maybe it was the anesthesia yesterday. It just was in my head and I had to write it. Glad you found humor in it. Thanks as always. Smiles to you - Carol

Thanks for stopping by to read this silly story. It must have come from the anesthesia yesterday. LOL I am glad you enjoyed. I'm hard at work at a 'crime scene" this morning so I'm praying I get it right. Thanks again - Carol

Google it. Seriously Bob

This is clever. Poor Jacob. The joke is on him. I can imagine how hard it would be been to make a class full of deaf students laugh. He was doomed to fail from the start.

-Good artwork and story.
-I enjoyed reading it.
-I also like puns.
-I like the beginning as
Jacob follows the directions
on the sign, or so he thought!
-You did a good job describing
his efforts to try and get the
kids to respond to the jokes.
-I think Jacob must be a good
kid because he blamed himself,
and didn't get upset with the kids.
-The ending was very good, too.
-Thanks for sharing it.

Yes, I think Jacob is a good kid and only wanted to entertain them. Maybe the teacher should have given him a heads up. LOL Thanks for the kind review. Smiles, Carol

You are very welcome, Carol. The teacher probably should have, but then you wouldn't have had the story. You could always do a follow up with the same class and a different outcome!

This is a riot and I think the notes are fine. I've heard some of those before and who could possibly know how or where they originated. Of course the punch line is fantastic.

Good morning - Thanks for reading my silly story - I needed something to put my head elsewhere. Happy it came across as I intended. Smiles to you - Carol

This made me smile, thank you. It was a lovely, throw away explanation for the children's unresponsive reaction to what were perfectly placed jokes for their age group.

LOL! That was so funny, Carol. Loved it. I could just imagine all those children sitting there with straight faces, wondering what on earth the man was doing. Very clever story, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

It was silly and I have no idea where the thought came from, but it was there and I wrote it. Crazy! Thanks for the review. Smiles - Carol

How did she squeeze Jacob? His hand? With a hug? But the real question is does he even know American Sign Language? I guessed right away from the "Please sign." But if he doesn't know how to sign, the note would be puzzling. Thanks for the chuckles.

I wrote this about thirty minutes after an unexpected surgery yesterday... Guess I got the surprise! Went for a consultation and got more than I asked. Thanks for reading and reviewing. Smiles, Carol
-
Unexpected surgery? That doesn't sound good. Sending prayers for healing!
-
I suddenly lost my hearing. Yesterday they poked a whole in my eardrum and placed a tube in to drain. On the 26th I have to go to the hospital because I have a cyst growing against my eardrum in my inner ear. Fun and games! Smiles - Carol
-
Oh no! That sounds scary. Okay, more prayers for you!
-
Thank you - as long as it isn't cancerous I'm good... at least I hope I am. Smiles - Carol

Very punny. Please sign--Didn't see that coming. Just thought the kids thought his jokes were lame or just didn't get them. Charming story--clever twist!

Thanks - Glad I got the idea across. I was passing time after an unexpected surgery yesterday and needed a laugh or two. The puns came to mind and thus the story. Crazy where some ideas come from. Smiles, Carol
-
Surgery? Hope all is well.

I went for a consultation and got sent to have a hole punctured in my eardrum and a tube placed in it. On the 26th I have to go to the hospital because a cyst has grown in my inner ear and it has blocked my eardrum. I lost all hearing. Ugh! smiles - Carol
-
OUCH! Good luck with that.
