Wow, Beth!

This is the best! Oh my gosh! What brilliant writing and memories.
I might have to hold back the tears...Take my last 6 for the week.

"Connie was surprised to learn that Lenny, now in his senior year, was in all honors classes, and that he seldom made below an A+ grade."

I'm impressed and also how it helped Connie to step it up.

"We were concerned that maybe they were together too much, but Connie was so much more pleasant to be around, that we dared not rock the boat. At times when she didn't feel well, he waited on her like he was her personal servant. Connie wasn't always truthful, but it always sounded like the truth." LOL

"We found out quickly that Lenny was incapable of lying."
No? Yes he is!

"Every time you mentioned needing the money for the phone calls she had made, she would start hyperventilating.

It might not have been funny at the time...it's funny now, though.

Loved your loving ending. Maybe this is why I never had daughters...
only 3 sons.

Blessings....

Anna

Thank you for the delightful in depth review. I'm so glad you liked this. I read to Christi what I had written about the episode of her lying on the hyperventilating. She remembered, but I thought she be embarrassed that I did, but she thought if was funny.
I really appreciate the six stars.

It's another interesting chapter in your very involved family life! With a lot of your children's situations, I feel like we're waiting for the other shoe to drop ... and I think it just did, with this guy Jay, in Australia. Ugh, that awful Goth movement! I can't say I blame Christi for being turned off by it -- and especially by the attitude of Jay and his friends, toward her more conservative (a/k/a normal) style.

The little spags I flagged:

It's too bad that Christi couldn't spend any time with Don, when Kimberly was around. It sounds like Christi really could have used his support and friendship or "twinship." It's too bad that Kimberly didn't grasp the special relationship between twins, and realize that it wasn't a threat to their romantic attachment.

Was Lenny a good influence on Connie? Time will tell, but it looks as though he was.

The drama in your home with Evan and the cats was a little comical. It's good that you are able to look back and see the blessings, over and above this somewhat tumultuous period of time.

Thank you again for the in depth review and the valuable help with editing. Actually it was Carol who wanted to spend time with Don. The two of them have a special relationship. Kimberly was jealous of anyone who wanted any of Don's time. Christi wanted his time as well, but Kimberly resented that from both girls. Lenny was a good influence on Connie at that time.

Well done, once again. Always a good read. You are good at churning out the chapters. I need to do some stuff. Hopefully, you will have something from me to read, soon. No spags.

Wow - you did have so much turmoil with concerns about your adult children. But of course you are writing in just one page everything that happened in that one fall in 1989. I was surprised to see the Lenny and Connie were together so much - I guess they became boyfriend-girlfriend after all? The last post they separated when Connie said she just wanted to be friends. I guess something happened when they went on that retreat with the other teens.
I'm so glad that you did have that time nurturing your relationship with your husband! What a blessing!

Thank you for the review and comments. Lenny and Connie' s breakup lasted until until about two in morning that same day. They seemed to have sorted it out. She didn't want to lose him.

Wow! The shortest breakup ever. I thought he had counseling and they were separated for months.
reply by the author on 08-Apr-2021
I think the counseling was because he got so upset he did a thousand dollars worth of damage to car door he didn't even realize he hit. He was overreacted.

It does seem children take up most of our time. Even adult children. I understand that. I can honestly say that once my children were married and had kids of their own, my time was my time. LOL I enjoy reading.

Thank you Barbara, I do appreciate the review and comments. At the time I'm writing about I still had two children living we me full time and Don part time. Now my time is my own, but I'm still concerned if one of them is in any kind of distress.

Another wonderful chapter! Never a dull moment. Christi is quite the drama queen--from what you say she hasn't changed a bit.

sugg:

Christi completed her massage therapist training, and went to Atlanta, along with the other students [COMMA] for the certification test.

trying to get her to [breath=>BREATHE] into a paper bag

The plan was for Jay to pick her up and take her to her friend [OMIT COMMA] Connie's place.

Because his grades had fallen behind, he wouldn't be getting any grant money [OMIT COMMA] until he could get his grade point average up.

Thank you Elizabeth, I see I'm still having problem putting those comma in places they don't belong. I need a refresher course in punctuation.

This story is very well written, making it enjoyable and easy to read. This is the first time I've read an episode. It was like looking into a window at someone else's life only to find out it is not much different from the things you've experienced, except I still have my husband. Well done. Will be reading more.

Thank you so much for dropping by. Most people find my life reminds them of thingsin their own life. I don't think my life is special, but we all a little unique. For my kids sake, I want them to remember what like was like growing up. I hope you do come back.

Hi, Beth - Glad to see things are still holding together and you even found time for just you and Evan. Here I am 72 and still having "problems" with children and no honey to lean on. Life sorts out the way it does, I guess. It was a great read as always. Smiles to you - Carol

Thank you Carol. I miss having Evan to lean on. The children still do things to make me make me wonder if I didn't do a proper job of raising them, but there's no point in worrying about something i can't control.

I guess that's the thing about having more children than Elaine and I had, we didn't have that much trouble, Rebecca, was a beautiful, unselfish big sister and still really cares fo her sibling, plus Elaine is very selfless too. Beautifully written, thanks for sharing Beth, blessings Roy

Thank you so much for the review and comments. Either you must have done an almost perfect job of raising them or I have a better memory. LOL I can't imagine everything being ideal all the time. My children are all good people and they love each other but it seems there are always stirring that was less than idea.. My husband probably wouldn't have remember any of the bad things. I'm more of a realist than an idealist.

I?ve come to the conclusion that luck plays a big part in the nature of children, the grands are similar, with variation in their natures, forgive my personal musings, the elder daughter would play with the kid no one else would play with, you can?t teach that, the younger weeps for others at the drop of a hat, my siblings and myself weren?t particularly nice either, but Elaine is an exceptional human, believe me I wasn?t good when younger, I?m as mystified as you. No. such thing as a perfect parent, I?ll have to stop doing that. Sorry.
