I'm not at risk for HD--I meant that the lab tech likened TSD to HD--which freaked me out--in fact, the adult-onset form is NOT like HD--in any event, I don't have it--I'm just a carrier for TSD.

I'd never heard of TSD, Liz, what a horrid wait you had. I take it your unborn baby was fine? What a worry! But, sometimes the not knowing what's going on inside you is far better than the knowing. This is a powerful story you've written. The way you tell it, as we wait for the answer with you, kept me on the edge of my seat, as the saying goes.
I know a woman who has diabetes and she and her husband decided not to have children because of it. I always wondered if she made a mistake. It didn't seem to suit her to not have children, and her husband didn't want to adopt.
You and your sister could have been aborted when it wasn't necessary.
I'm so glad they didn't know and didn't need to make that choice.

I was already 34 and the doctor pushed me to get the test. We told him, it didn't matter - we'd keep the baby no matter what! It turned out that silly test was only 50% accurate!

It had the welcomed verisimilitude of genetic research. And your character development (who knew more about you than you?), was over the top! I kept waiting for you to get caught when you were posing as a Nurse Assistant, and then found you had the cajones to admit you were the patient.
