I really loved the style you used in this poem. I love the way you've used each descriptive phrase regarding the life of an addict. It's a terrible life from which my own son emerged 3 years ago after a 17 year battle and what you've written resonates with me. Exceptionally well written and I wish you luck in the contest. I think it's a winner.

Thank you so much for your review and comments. Also, for the six stars. I am so happy that your son is fighting and beating the odds. I pray that my nephew and Step Son will soon find that same path. Hugs and blessings to you and yours.

You are so welcome. I?m like a ?dog with a bone? I hung In there and never gave up helping him to beat the drugs. I thought he would die. He?s still my loving , loyal, gentle son, thank God. X

Very nice description of the battle we all face with loved ones addictions. The best solution is to "seek his face and accept his grace" as you stated.

Thank you for your review and comment. Yes, sometimes it is so difficult to give it to God, but that is what we have to do.

I didn't even need to read this twice. This poem was so well constructed!! All I can say is wow. Speechless. I know an addict, I've lived with an addict, when they're family sometimes its hard to let go. Because I was holding on God couldn't get a good grip. This was a beautiful poem. I wish you all the best in the competition!!

Thank you. Right now, we are struggling with my nephews addiction, and a couple years ago with my stepson. My stepson died in my house and we had to give him CPR until the paramedics arrived. by the grace of God, it was not his time, and he made it. Totally scary. It's so hard to let them go on their own when you know they are just killing themselves. Blessings to you and yours always.

Well done. Takes the reader there with you. The picture works well, too. I can see it as part of a collection in a dark volume written with light on a dark background, flares of illustration carefully placed. Good luck.

This is a very powerful poem about how destructive addiction is to the human soul. I think you are right that only God can help people release themselves from this horrifically destructive demon. This should do very well in the contest.
