This sounds like a pleasant memory to have. In the second paragraph I think it might have read better if you had eliminated the words back for in describing his expertise. I worked for a few years for a place that sold Christmas trees and it is indeed a magical time. Thanks for sharing this story. Best wishes.

Thanks for the excellent review and it was great to hear that it brought back memories of selling Christmas trees from those Christmas tree lots for you. It's great that people can connect to each other through Christmas, across space and time. estory

You most certainly were able to articulate the joyous atmosphere that that particular time of year brought to your family. You did it in spades. We all have our own stories about the choices and decoration of our trees and so the reverie is a joyful one. Thank you for sharing.

I don't think, apart from God Himself, anything brings more comfort and reassurance than sheer tradition and its very presence and promise. We will celebrate Passover at Easter at Easter this year, and remember that first time the Angel of death passed over every house with the blood of a lamb smeared on door entrances, and then go to the time when the real sacrifice of Christ Himself suffered and bled and died for us, after that first promissory note. A beautifully written remembrance of these things, as the birth of God's brought you comfort via the Christmas tree. Well done, blessings Roy

Thanks for the excellent review and for your interesting perspective on the piece. Its always great to hear how a story can conjure up so many personal memories and feelings in so many different people in such far flung places in the globe. Remember reading you some time ago, great to see you back! I have also been gone for a long time, life circumstances, great to read your reminiscences. It's mixed emotions for us at Christmas with so many loved ones gone but still enjoy the grandkid's jubilation of driving into the Wind River mountains to a site designated by the Forest Service and hiking through the snow to find the "Perfect Tree." The fun continues as we stop for hot drinks on the way home, then celebrate as we trim and decorate the tree.
Great story,
irish

Thanks so much for the excellent review as well as your colorful memory of your own Christmas traditions. This is what I was hoping to achieve in writing this piece; connecting people through Christmas across space and time. estory
