I understand how we have an idea about what we want to write and then our muse will take it somewhere else. I have learned to allow my muse to take the lead whenever that occurs. I love the picture you selected to go with this piece.

Hello Janet,
A marvelous blank verse poem with wonderful imagery
and use of sound in the assonance and alliteration.
The iambic pentameter reads perfectly.
Sometimes, a poem just has a mind of its own,
and knows exactly where it wants to go. :)
Beautiful verse.
Best wishes to you.
Robert

Thank you Robert for your thoughtful and encouraging review and for the extra special sixth star. You're right, sometimes, a poem just has a mind of its own.

This poem is filled with uplifting words. I found these words interesting,
lovely, descriptive and creative. The poem flows and connects well. I really enjoyed the last stanza. The artwork is perfect and compliments these words.

Your words brought us on a beautiful journey with you. Thank you so much for sharing this. I love when we start writing thinking that the work is going to go in one direction and then it guides us into another one entirely! Thanks again for this, and happy writing :)

Camilla's are one of the flowers that remind me of my youth also. As a preteen and teen my father was a Landscape Gardener. Each time I get close enough to smell certain flower's scent I'm reminded of my dad. Thank you for Sharing your poem and the photo. Blessings to you.

How right you are that this goes in one direction, then another, and then another, and then the last verse seems to come from a different poem altogether. Does the cricket whisper your name as you fall asleep? Or does the narrator, or does the one who sires the baby boy? This sounds lovely but leaves a lot of questions in my mind.
Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Jesse for your thoughtful review. This is a fictional poem, so the reader can choose whatever he would like it to be.

    Hello Janet.
I agree that fiction can be whatever we want it to be, but it was still a little confusing, sorry to say.
    Take care,

Hello Janet, glad I had a six left for you. This blank verse is so well written in good iambic pentameter that the reader does not notice there is no rhyme. Exactly how a blank verse should sound. Beautifully worded - a pure love song. I know what you mean about changing tack when writing a poem. It seems the words flow without your bidding - they usually turn out the best kind. Lovely work - Love Dorothy xx

The imagery in this poem has the reader walking and remembering right along with you. Very moving. Your choice of a bright background ties in with the happy memories you explore.

SO glad I have a 6 to give this wonderful poem! I love blank verse done right--and yours certainly is! It flows like a lovely river, with vivid, specific details about nature and love.

You took us through a lifetime in your lovely blank verse poem. It starts with the blossom of love in the spring with camellias and then it continues with the spring of life again with the birth of a child and the lullaby. I see where this poem transitioned then to bring us to a realization that the narrator's beloved is gone and is fondly remembered through the many springs and the night sky.
