I'm going to hazard a guess that this is about your love of a vehicle, and how it fits your lifestyle. Am I close? Its an intriguing poem because you kind of have to fiqure it out. If I'm off the mark, I apologize. Thanks for sharing. :)

Not at all. It's about a play on the white hat good guy vs the black hat bad life as referenced in old cowboy movies add survival of that life's possible side effects and survival of such a life got the idea after recipe of a couple of hats from a ranchero relative. My hats old carz, and cigarz served as props. Blessings and Thanks again.

Black Hatz & Cigarz
by QC Poet

Hello, QC,

I don't understand your Senryu. I think you are using a play on words. Senryu is about human nature.

I would suggest to write a simpler piece. How about the Black Hat story down the dusty road?

I Apologize about that, my mind was assuming that the Good guys wear white hats and bad guys wear black Hats widely shown in the movies might qualify to cover the human nature aspect and the ending was the survival of a situation such as that a sort of redemptive story.

It's a great idea for a longer poem form but for Senryu imagine you are squeezing the essence out of a moment in time.

This is an excellent senryu with a great theme playing through, when I perform music, I wear a black fedora, (like a trilby, but a narrower brim) but my car is silver. Beautifully written dear friend, a nice, quirky "Zedder", good job, blessings Roy

Mr. Royowen, I'm thrilled you enjoyed my little fun poke at my Rancher relatives south of the border. They recently gifted me two of those hats one beige the other more of a dark blue so I thought I'd use my disability, old but resh cigar I had and a couple pictures of previous car I had to write a this offering.
Bless you for your Consistent Support.

It never ceases to amaze me how a few words can say so much. I enjoyed your playfully proud words about your treasured car. It's interesting that some people never lose the fondness for expensive cars and for some of us it's a vehicle to get the kids to school.

Thank you for your Support and Review. As I'm now handicap, couldn't drive anymore and my wife didn't like it. LOL
We did take our grandkids to school in it all the time. Thanks again.

Most men like cars and cigarettes. This is an appropriate poem about what men like: cars and cigarettes.

I don't smoke but find people smoking cigarettes belong a special class. When I was young, I thought they belonged to the rich high class. As I grew older, I thought they belonged to the business class. Now, my wisdom can't help me to tell me what class they belong to.

Happy writing. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your Time to Read, Rate, and Review this poem. I've never been much of a cigarette smoker either, try them as a teenager didn't like it. I was an occasional Cigar smoker however, the poem is about surviving the bad guy " black hat" image and the years of bar hopping with car clubs at the the cost of some body parts from drinking now into my elder age. Blessings and Thanks again.

Your words are well-chosen and create great imagery of your life. I enjoyed reading it, although it's poignant. Your words flow well with good rhymes--I like the 'z' at the end of the words and the rhymes. The picture is a good pairing. Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

I presume you are writing about the flashy lifestyle of some moneybags. But I should admit your writing style fits your lifestyle to a 'T'. Very smart writing of modern-day poetry. Thanks for sharing!

I actually have rancher family in Jalisco, Mexico, they sent me a couple of gift hats, so I got that crazy idea. Thankful for your Support and Review. Blessings to you.

You really forced me to read this multiple times. I like the progression from what I am assuming is "low life" to "high life" and the eventual rewards of experience. I hope I've read it correctly.

I guess some folks can look at it that way, I grew up in a barrio and worked my way to a better life, with my rancher family gifting me the hat from Jalisco, Mexico.
Thanks for your Support and Encouragement.

This is a clever use of words and letters but I have to ask whether rhyme in such density is permitted in senryu. I know it is not in haiku but Senryu has always struck me as a lighter style. Gypsy will tell you and then you can tell me.

I actually wrote an inquiry to her and she responded that this particular challenge offers a little more lee-way but she also hadn't read it yet. Thanks for your Support, Review and Encouragement.

This is well done and captures the "Old West," as well as, the more recent past with the flashy cars shown off for bystanders and those driving by. This is a decent example of a Sen

ryu poem. I like the use of the "z's" to complete each word in this piece. The picture you chose gives this a feeling of realness. Well written and timely to boot.

Thank you Sir for your Time to Read, Rate, and Review this poem offering. My Mexico Rancher family gifted me the hat, and the cars are from when I was younger and working in Aerospace. Thanks again.

You are so very welcome! I respect a worker from Aerospace. My father worked there as well back in the mid-60s'. Have a great day!
