We long, and we harbour memories which are haunting, as much as they are giving and as much as they are nostalgic, as much as endearing.

This was a journey in which paths may be different, but the emotions the same.
We long, and we harbour memories which are haunting, as much as they are giving and as much as they are nostalgic, as much as endearing.
You wrote with great poetic aura where it is very much free verse than prose.

Great poem, story and history lesson all in one hundred thousand pennie's worth of writing, Blessings and I too miss the plastic only life we now live and have always on walks with my grandkids used that old motto see a penny pick it up, all day long you'll have Good Luck. Thanks for Sharing.

Those were the days pennies did worth something. People could use a few pennies to buy something. Today a penny doesn't worth anything... If people are short of one penny in their shopping, they may not have to pay it...
Like the phrase; " Save a penny for the rainy day." This reminds people to save for retirement.

I enjoyed your free verse challenge poem for the club. Your lines read well with good flow and great imagery. I like the many examples you give readers about the history of the penny. I never had a chance to buy penny candy, but that would have been fun. However, even at a penny, I imagine all had to watch their expenses, and that candy was a real treat. Thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed your free verse challenge poem for the club. Your lines read well with good flow and great imagery. I like the many examples you give readers about the history of the penny. Things were not so common a thing and treats were remember, like those summer picnic where people gathered around and crank on the ice cream making machine.

What a fun free verse about the penny. I don't think I ever remember movies for 5 cents! Enjoyed how you used onomatopoeia in your poem and these fond nostalgic memories of the worth of a penny.

Yes indeed, I didn't own a credit card till 1992, so then one carried around "loose change" we got rid of the I and 2 cent pieces years ago, but I can remember time spent in the US, you still had those pennies and tiny quarters, we still have silver 5c, 20c, 50c 1 Dollar, 2 dollar coins, here, the lowest note is $5, all those $1 notes you have, I had wallets full of them, beautifully written my friend Jim, blessings Roy
