Great choice of words. You always paint such lovely pictures with your pen. I can taste those johnnycakes covered with warm maple syrup. Great work.

To my mind this was the most original use of the Trees in Spring metaphor taking the reader beyond a simple Spring scene. It utilized four of our five senses: sight, smell, taste and sound. And the writer's use of rhyme provided sophisticated whimsy. I also loved the choice of artwork which really compliments the piece. Well done!

I enjoyed reading this sweet, short poem that reminded me of a breakfast I loved as a child. (I don't eat johnnycakes and maple syrup now because of fpossible weight gain). Your poem is also a great reminder of trees in the spring. Best wishes in the contest.

Possible weight gain? Haha, guaranteed weight gain. I didn't realize how many calories in a 14 cup of maple syrup until one day reading the can while eating pancakes drenched in the stuff. yikes
Oh well,
cheers, j

This is an excellent 5-7-5 poem for the contest:
maple trees and maple syrup, hot johnnycakes
(flapjacks, pancakes), it sounds great to me.
Hello Spring!
Well done.
Best wishes to you.
