Building a house out of mud and bamboo and using a machete would be quite an achievement. I admit it looks rather attractive and well put together. If you had to do all the manual labor yourself, you'd be so tired you wouldn't have the energy to enjoy anything else. I agree it's good to reconnect with nature and get away from the urban life. I think it would be miserable as a way of life, however. There would be a daily struggle just to eke out a living. Great concluding three-liner. Beautifully expressed thought of falling asleep after a hard day's work. My father worked like that as a farmer, and it didn't bring him much of anything except indebtedness. Good luck in the contest. You did great with this. judi

Working the land for a living is harsh .. always at the mercy of the weather too .. months of hard work can be destroyed in hours..minutes...due to anomaly temperature jumps .( a sudden freeze out of season)
Actually, I wasn t suggesting to go build our own bamboo hut .. just that watching her work in that green / peaceful environment using what Mother Nature provided to build her hut, boosted my spirits.
We need to find a healthy half way mark .. less time on our devices so to carve out some time to spent in contact with Nature .. I am lucky I have woods and pine forest just a stone s throw away ... those living in cities can take a walk in the park or enjoy a short holidays in the mountains or at the sea.. our health and mental wellness depends on it.

Ciao, tempeste. We do need to get back to nature once in a while. Having to live that full time would be terrible. It's a wonder that people like Abraham Lincoln could still find time to read when they had to work so hard to survive off the land. judi

.... glad I live near pine forests and woods full of chestnut trees.
When I go walking there I forget my problems .. even my headaches dissolve ( biggrin)

NIcely done haibun. If only all of us had skills like this. We all could build our own woodland getaways. But then there might not be any more forests to house wildlife and help clean the air.

No need to build a house out of wood ..an hour walk in the woods will help us relax and ease the stress
restore our mood, give us back our energy and vitality, refresh and rejuvenate us.
I hope you took the time to watch the video .. I really enjoyed it and it definitely boosted my spirits.
I can t imagine how life will be in say 20 /30 years .. the green zones will be reduce even more and most of the population will be living in urban areas. Not a great prospect.

Yes, walks among trees are my favorite walks. There are some government protected lands like National parks and wetlands. Hopefully they stay that way.
