Mark, this is clever. I like the picture you have chosen to represent this haiku write. I like the end line that describes the artist behind the lines. I personally do not like spiders but I love their webs. Great job. ~DD

DD,
Pleased my spider post worked for you. Other reviewers have also commented on the FanArt illustration. I hope to find other works by this artist for future posts. FanArt is my go-to source for illustrations to complement my FS posts.

This is a nicely written poem. Thin black lines drape walls with an intricate design. Spider artistry. Well done. Awesome artwork to go with your words.

So pleased you enjoyed my overall presentation Joanne! I typically use FanArt for all my posts, although I am disappointed with its search engine for words or phrases.

You have made excellent use of your seventeen syllables in this descriptive, appealing poem. Spiders are capable of some amazing
art designs! Fitting artwork

Mark,
This was pretty stinking cool, bud. First off, the image was a great way to start off this post, for sure. It was definitely striking and holds your attention. Wow.
Then, to speak of spider webs as 'intricate designs' and 'artistry', I think is totally appropriate. Nice! If there was anything I didn't love about this post it's the syllable count. In modern Western haiku, we are not restricted to the 5/7/5 count. (I feel certain you know that.) By creating and sharing post that continue to stick to that format it seems we just keep propating that myth, you know? As long as your haiku are 17 syllables OR LESS, you should be fine. BUT - that's my hangup - it doesn't have to be yours. *smile*
Thanks a bunch. I enjoyed this - thanks for the smile!

Robyn,
Yep, I often conform to that rigid 5-7-5 rather use the more traditional Japanese ?sound? format. I strive to create my Haiku with its satori line, but it is difficult to achieve consistently. If you want to see really good Haiku, visit theHaikuFoundation.org web site. It requires no funny monies to post to the same and there are typically no voting contests either. I follow Gypsy Blue Rose and she often writes her Haiku with less than 17 syllables. Except for strict contest rules, I am trying to write with less than 17 too.

The webs these spiders weave are artwork of a different kind. Intricate and also quite deadly! But still beautiful in a weird sort of way. Plus the silk is strong as steel in the insect world.

June,
What webs we can spin about this post. Thanks for your review and comments.

P.S. My spider artist is more benevolent and not the deadly Black Widow arachnid (-;
Comment from RodG
Spider webs are fascinating in both design and suspension. I am always amazed how a spider finds ways to "drape" its web. The artwork you chose is perfect Thor this poem. Rod

I always though spider webs were more gray than black. But their designs are pretty and intricate. Very nice job. Stay safe and stay healthy.

Thanks Earl for your comments. Those spider webs always looked black to me, but they were creepy if I walked into a vacant house and I had to brush them away.

Hello Mark
Spiders.... they're so creepy. Your poem flows well, good syllable count and connection between lines. The structure makes sense. It presents strong images.

This has a double meaning. The black widow, itself, and the black widow, herself. Clever and creative, dear Mark. I wish you all the best with this,
Sally :)) XOs....

Sally,
My spiders are benevolent, including those climbing up the water spout in the children?s poem. LOL
