I have always been fascinated by spider webs ..I love watching a spider spin /weave its web
Spiders are definitely skilful engineers , their silk is extraordinarily strong and the finished product is dazzling especially when bathed in morning dew.
Lolita kept our house, cellar and serra spider free and she ate so many when we went on our daily hunting
sprees (from April to September then it got too cold to go out.. in Winter she ate mealworms and the worms she found in the chestnuts we collected)
I love the artwork you provided ...it complements well your poem.
PS : in 1995 NASA redid an experiment done in 1948 drugging spiders with various substances and the results are here in this link .. their webs were really bizarre..
Enjoy!

'arachnid artwork', is short succinct and deftly descriptive. Woven through each short line are the spider's webs of truth. I look forward to seeing your next post.

It's difficult to describe just how beautiful, and intricate, and fascinating some webs can be, as well as devious and deadly. I love the webs, scared of the maker. Great job on the Haiku. Best of luck.

Thanks Linda!
The spiders can be scary creatures in literature. My poem makes them more benevolent (-;

wonderful imagery of the intricate work of the spider's web.
The picture compliments your poem, however, even without it you give your reader a visual of the spider's artwork.

Mary

Thanks Mary,
The FanArt artwork was truly terrific. Thanks for applause for my words. My poetic style is most typically 5-7-5 syllable poems.Longer verses are not in my poetry wheelhouse.

poetry is not in my wheelhouse so I have the advantage that I am free to judge beauty, images, and emotions without counting or critiquing or even knowing about poetry style

Yes, these are the animals that inspired Robert the Bruce from not giving up when he was running from his enemy, and finally beating them. Beautifully written Mark, great haiku wonderful theme, their artistry is amazing, blessings Roy

There is always something rather scary about a spider's web as it reminds me that the spider is luring about somewhere, but here you praise the artwork, spiders not only weave webs to catch their prey, they also do it to show off their skill, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Dolly,
Yes, they are creepy, but my spider is a benevolent and artistic one. LOL
Thanks, as always, for your reviews of my posts.
Now with our second shot for Covid, maybe we will get to art galleries or museums to see other artists. The spider artistry can now be seen in my garage. LOL

-It is a very good illustration,
Mark, and a good presentation.
-A well written poem with a
good topic and nature imagery.
-Spiders can weave rather
intricate webs, and definitely
qualify as "spider artistry!"

Your haiku is very descriptive. Great job with its style. Your art choice and well-thought out words pair perfectly. Your lines 1 & 2 connect as required and line 3 is a great satori. I don't dislike spiders as long as they stay way far away from me out in the fields.
Respectfully, Jan

Jan,
So pleased with your review. I can only take credit for this short verse. The selected illustration is truly outstanding. I hope to find others of his to complement my future posts.

I did like this haiku, nice use of words but maybe the last line could have more of an "ah-ha" moment of capturing a moment in time or a feeling. I'm not an expert on haiku's but I have been trying to learn more about them.
I love the artwork it goes very well with the poem.
Thank you for Sharing

Julie,
I strive for that aha moment, but rarely can achieve it. As such, I cheat a bit and subtitle my posts as ?contemporary Haiku.? For more info about Haiku, go to theHaikuFoundation.org web site. Then you will learn about more traditional Haiku poetry. Their format is not rigid 5-7-5 syllables. My poetry wheelhouse does not include long verses; I typically stick with 5-7-5 poems.
Other reviewers have also favorably commented on the artwork that I chose from FanArt. Typically, this is my go-to source to complement my posts.
Mark
P.S. ?spider athletics? might be an aha moment?

I know it?s not easy to get the perfect last line in haikus ,sometimes I get it right and sometimes I don?t 😊
