Just so you know, the purpose of this review is to be helpful. I will point out any SPAG errors I see and rate according to site guidelines. SPAG means Spelling, Punctuation And Grammar. I may also comment on formatting issues. I will not give a five or six-star review unless I believe the work warrants it and I won't lie to you.
I was going to go with a 6 star rating until I saw all that dialect. It was like a wall had been put up and the piece became too difficult to wade through. Sorry, can't give it a 5 or 6. It's great, except for the dialect.
There is one part that's easily fixed: Goliath, a playful 6-month-old golden retriever, romped into the backyard, closely followed by his owner; sweet, excitable Beth.
Get rid of the ; and use a comma or even a colon. A semicolon joins two complete, related short sentences such as: The package was supposed to arrive Saturday; it came a week later.
The semicolon takes the place of 'but'.
This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.
The highest and the lowest rating are not included in calculations.

Thanks for taking the time to read and review. I appreciate it because it is a long story. This is about the 9th or 19th story I have written with Frankie and everyone has liked the Irish brogue. Maybe because it was so long (the original contest called for 3000 words). We all like different things and this one wasn't your cup of tea. I understand. Smiles to you!
