Hi Melissa,
When I was a little kid, I used to play in the nearby woods with my friends... cowboys and Indians, or war games, or Hide & Seek, or Frozen Tag, or Capture the Flag. It was always special when I'd find a broken robin's egg... the prettiest blue there is. Sky blue. And every time I'd find one, I'd think that there is a baby bird learning to fly.
Loved your poem!
"Small, delicate pieces of bright, sky~blue fragments
are scattered beneath the old applewood tree."
Your poem reminds me of my son's stress load in caring for baby Isla. (She'll be 17 months old on the 9th of September, so almost a toddler.) Can I send your poem on to him? It might do him good to realize that even robins are busy looking after little ones.
"An urgency chases the tired little Robin
to hasten her foraging for their new brood."
Nicely penned! I especially enjoyed your closing lines,
"Excitedly perched on the edge of adventures,
they leap from the nest, as they soar into Spring!"
Hugs,
Kimbob

Wood the tree fall too far from the apple, Melissa. :) Sometimes, I wonder if it does agree with me or I agree with the saying. I haven't gotten on the computer for a few days so I'm late. This is a good offering for the Rhyming poem Contest. Thank you for sharing.

This is so beautiful and my favorite subject. I love birds, they are both strong and beautiful, they look amazing when they fly and they are a hearty group. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest. :)

Hey there Sharon. Thanks so much. I am sitting on pins and needles waiting for springtime and my daffodils to bloom. I saw a few Robins a few days ago, and they were an inspiration. So glad you liked it.

I know what you mean about too much snow!! We got ice instead and lost four trees. Ugh! Thanks so much for the lovely comments.

This is a beautifully written rhyming poem. I love this part. New nestlings are chirping their boisterous greeting reminding their parents to hurry feed me. It has a nice flow and rhyme . I love your photo it compliments your poem so well.

Amphibrach meter
The Promise of Spring
by Sugarray77

Hello, sugar Ray,

Excellent entry for the Rhyming Poem contest.

Nice Amphibrach meter

Lovely imagery of nature scene.

I like the image of the robin bird feeding her brood.

Like our children grow up and leave the nest so do the little birds.

Well done.

Hello Gypsy. Thanks so much for the wonderfully supportive review. I agree that the birds leaving their nests resembles our own broods growing up and leaving. Thanks again.

After the winter storm we've just been through, Spring looks far away. It's close, though, and how welcome it will be. It's hard for me to tell the different between amphibrach and anapest. You wrote a lovely poem.

Hi Yvonne. I know you all are covered with snow, but look on the bright side, when it melts you will see all of those bulblets forcing up from the ground. :). Thanks so much.
