Superb, Janet. Every tanka was a morsel of deliciousness, wrapped in chills, and scented pines, birds and all the good things about a wintery day.

Perfectly written and a fine entry into this contest. Wishing you great luck with the voters. :)

Again, I care not at all for the form, but for the beauty of this write, bringing to mind a cherished memory of a ride with family during a visit to Canada, my birthplace. I remember the icicles on the limbs of the trees, sparkling like rows of diamonds in the winter sunshine. Your poem brought me to those precious and unforgettable moments. Thank you. The smooth symmetry of the free verse lines is exquisite - a thoroughly gorgeous read. Best wishes in the contest with this amazing piece...

I'm still in kindergarten when it comes to evaluating different forms of poetry, but I do know that I love all the images you out forth to the reader snd how well you incorporate the senses. Perfect picture for your poem, but I think I would have felt your words just as well without it. Wish I still had a six

Dear jm, if this poem is an example of the poems you can write, I want to fan you if you do not mind, because I would not want to miss a single one of them, even if they are not promoted. As for this post, I think it a masterfully written Tanka, I know I can learn from your examples.

Your words have painted pictures of the beauty of winter, Janet, that make me want to wrap up warm and go and experience them for myself. There is so much creativity and gorgeous imagery in each tanka. A delight to read, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

This Tanka is as a portrait, visually and aurally of the landscape in the depths of winter - so real and tangible almost - and enhanced by the sense of chill

-Very nice artwork
and presentation, Janet.
-Each tanka is written
very well and creates a
vivid word picture of winter.
-The imagery in the first
one is very dramatic with
"shards of light."
-The one with the cardinal
has a softer quality as it
sings in the snowy tree.
-A good concluding one as
you head home to have
"hot chocolate by the fire."
-Very well done; good luck!
