Very Well thought out with a couple of repeated rhyming words using race. I could only suggest avoiding that for the judges, you might consider rearranging line " in a place of strife" to " a strife filled place". Line 8 probably s/b than " than your grace" as grace comes from Jesus. Of course these are suggestions only. Best of Luck in the Rhyming Poetry Contest.

I liked the concise style of this poem. I like the wording enough to suggest that you could put it in a greeting card meant to encourage people. I might just add a comma after "As we run this race called life" and take the comma out after But in the second stanza.
