Hi Diane, this virus did exactly what it was made to do...
control and scare the crap out of people...some will take that fear to their graves with them...
I'm not saying covid isn't real...but the democrats blew the numbers higher than what they were...and killed as many as they could to try and make it higher...this is proven...
and with the medias help...some never heard the truth...
I'm so sorry that happen to you and your friend sweet girl...I know a couple people who are living in fear as your friend is...one won't let her kids out...or even think to ever send them back to school...
99.8% don't die when they get it...mostly the old....and the weak...sigh...
the best you can do...if you think you want to...get the vaccine...and if people truly believe in God...He has said...the battle is mine...trust at His will...He will not forsake us...
this is a subject that has caused so many to lose soooo much...

What a beautiful, yet sad poem. It is a shame that the world has come to this. Some people are just too fearful to be able to still have any quality of life. My in-laws are the same way. They will at least come outside to visit, but with proper distance.

This pandemic is scaring some people into being crotchety hermits. This woman seems to be psychologically changed by fear. If they both have had the vaccine than there should be enough feeling of safety to speak through a closed door and be thankful for a present of love. Maybe she will see her mistake and call and apologize for her actions.

This is so sad. It shows what we've come down to because of the virus. Fear of friends and family, even though they're free of it. My brother who lives in Georgia said he hasn't even been to the dentist, out of fear of COVID. It's too bad your neighbor felt that way, but you are right to give her some slack because of the difficult times we're living in. I live in Indiana and will get my second shot this week, but as far as everyone else is concerned, I'll still have to wear the mask when I'm out shopping. I hope your friend at least calls you to acknowledge your gift of the flowers. Beautifully written. judi

This well-written poem strongly at my heartstrings for it's so relatable.
Like many people, I have not seen my friends and family for over a year. I adhere all of the safety rules and social distancing, but minimize direct contact people unless it is necessary. Other than work (I work hybrid: two days in the office and three at home) and essential places (grocery store, etc.), I don't go anywhere. I don't have priority with getting the vaccines in my state (I am under 65 years of age, and I am not a frontline worker).
Yes, I am somewhat isolated, but I chat with my family and friends routinely by telephone, which minimize my loneliness. My friends have visited and brought gifts, but they left the gifts at my front door. Like me, they are concerned about their safety as well, which I totally respect.
Please, do not take your friend's behavior personally. She still loves you, but she is adjusting to a new normal. Hopefully, this new normal will not remain much longer. Meanwhile, enjoy her friendship from a distance for now. I know social distancing is no substitute for direct contact with people.

I just thought this incident was so important to share because it does, indeed, reflect the paralyzing fear many people hold because of not only the pandemic but the media's depiction of it and the mandates associated with it. The residual effects in terms of psychological and emotional damage are going to be evident for years to come.
As for my friend: next time, tulips, but I'll call first! :)

I have lost so many and wish I didn't sit in this house alone but knew I had a caring friend who just wanted to share a bit of cheer.
