Well, mermaids, you met all the requirements for this contest, and admirably. You have a loveable character in Yetti, may he rest in peace, and of course your big sissy of a cat, who has learned his lesson well! Congratulations on making me chuckle. May you do similarly with the judges of the contest.

Guinea pigs, a nice delicacy in some countries, are fun pets, aren't they. Cats don't understand them at all. It must have been funny to see Puma so startled by such a docile creature. You say you continue to learn, perhaps one example of something you learned may be of interest to readers who don't have your experience.
May I offer a punctuation tip? For example, "Our gray cat, Puma, entered...(commas are usually used to set the name apart in the sentence...)

This story was super short but oh so sweet. The writing made me feel good and care about Yeti though I had not cared or knew anything about Guinea pigs. The story was warm and fuzzy and sad.

I thoroughly enjoyed your cute story about your Guinea Pigs, especially howYeti charged down the cat. I used to keep Guinea Pigs in my classroom, so am familiar with the breed. They are cute and funny, but I've never seen one stand up to a cat. Good girl!!

Thanks for sharing your tale,
Rhonda

This is such a cute story, and your husband was right--they love having friends. When I was a little girl, my dad let me get one. I was only five, and didn't know how to care for it properly. Haunts me to this day, thinking about her spending most of her time alone in a cage. Ugh... :'( We ended up giving her away. I like to think her new family paid more attention to her.

This story responds to the "that was funny" prompt in a very effective manner. The description of the event that pitted Yeti against your big tomcat, promotes humor, and triggers laughter in the reader. Nicely done.

What a sweet story, Mermaids! It's easy to forget that the smaller critters (the Guinea pigs and birds and fish) have personalities and can be lovable pets with whom we can develop memorable relationships. I adore my rescue dogs, always have and always will, but your sweet story reminded me of Wheet, a loving and lovable guinea pig who lived happily beside a cat, a bird and a dog in my childhood home and blessed me with sweet memories. Wishing you good health and happy writing.

This is a very sweet and touching write about your pets and your Yeti in particular. I was tickled at the tale of your cat being terrified of the guinea pigs. So funny. Well written and a fun read.

This is a sweet and touching story. I loved the picture. Is that Yeti?
Can you possibly develop this story into a novel? I think animal lovers would enjoy that; especially the part where your puss is frightened by the pig. That was humorous.

Thank you for sharing an interest story.

I am honored by your review and I think a novel would be great. Thanks for the suggestion. Elaine

Mermaids:

Your sweet story reminded me of my childhood. My brother and I
had guinea pigs while growing up - but only one at a time. My
mom's small dog was not a fan. Good luck in the contest.
