It certainly can ruin the most perfect relationship.
There is little you can do that will allow you to control another's actions. If they stray it is not meant to be, you don't want that sort of relationship. Let it be. Truth always rules out. Nancy:)

Thank you Nancy. Fortunately for me, this is not biographical. I appreciate your review comments.

A very well-written poem about relationships that often suffer because of jealousy that are most of the time without cause and it only drives the couple apart.

Thank you Sandra. I once had a girlfriend who complained that my lack of jealousy indicated that I did not love her. I quickly ended that relationship.

Jealousy would have to born of deep insecurity I would imagine, I was only potentially jealous, when I was wandering around in a spiritual fog, if I was stepping out with a particularly attractive girl. Then God expresses Himself as a jealous God, expecting and deserving complete faithfulness, in fact declaring us not worthy of Him, if we don't, This is beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

Because of his blessings and unsparing generosity, his forgiveness of our constant betrayal. He alone is worthy of feeling jealous as his sworn enemy who constantly tries to lure us away from the one who gave us life and all that goes with that life.

Hi Nolan. I like this poem , but then I like most of your writing. LOL
One gets the feeling that this man is crippling his mind by over-thinking things.
Might I suggest you not use a cliche like this if you can avoid doing so:
"Absence makes the heart grow fonder."
Wonderful poem, my friend. :) Bob

Thanks Bob. As always I appreciate the support. I enjoy taking a well worn cliché and trying to give it new life. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail, but that is what makes life so enjoyable.

It doesn't affect the originality of your poem, Nolan. Bob

Nomi,
I have known some really jealous men -even had relationships with a few. I'm so thankful that my husband and I trust each other implicitly. Jealously can eat up up alive!
Your poem described these emotions well while delivering the message in a well-crafted poem. Thanks!

Hello nomi, this is well written with good rhyme and meter. The content I'm glad to see is listed as General and not biographical. Jealousy can ruin a marriage because without trust you cannot be happy. Having to hide innocent situations from a partner that is so untrusting and jealous is an unpleasant atmosphere to live with. Well done - a good poem - warm regards Dorothy x

Jealousy is a negative and destructive force that can eat away at our soul. It ruins relationships with often unfounded suspicions. If not controlled, it will constantly torture you.

This poem speaks the truth. Jealousy is the best way to destroy a relationship, I've seen it with others. This poem moves along nicely, rhymes well and gives good advice. Thanks for sharing. :)

It's obvious you are writing about someone else and the consequences of their behavior. There is something inherent about 'jealousy' that cannot be dislodged. Some have it and can't dispel it, while others are so trusting. A feeling is hard to lose.

I totally agree. I once had a relationship where I was accused of not caring enough to be jealous.
