You are right, jealousy can destroy relationships. I was very jealous in my last relationship but turned out to be true, my ex-husband had an affair with a married coworker.

Sometimes what is thought to be jealousy is a solid feeling that something is rotten in Denmark. So sorry you had to suffer being deceived and hurt.

Your poem reminds me of a reality TV show called "Couples Court," where one partner charges the other partner with cheating. The accused is required to submit to a lie-detector test. The show demonstrates how jealousy and suspicion can ruin a good relationship. First time around I probably should have been suspicious as I found out too late. I took seriously my wedding vows, yet he kept being suspicious of me anytime I was out of his sight. Even when I had a Saturday seminar at work, he showed up to make sure that's where I was. Yes, I should have been suspicious. Very well constructed poem.

Many who are guilty of wrong doing suspect the same from their partners. They accuse them endlessly and look for every little sign. Their own guilt makes the paranoid toward others.

Well done. I think Jealousy is an emotion we've all felt at one time or another. It is not limited to love, but perhaps is at its worst when it is. Jealousy over things or status is bad but over a loved one is another animal all together. Along with fear, it is the only time imagination works against us.

You have described very well the dilemna of jealousy. Your poem flows nicely and the rhyming is well done. This is an important topic because the irony of jealousy is that the tighter we hold onto someone the more likely they are to leave. We all need to be allowed to love freely from our hearts without control or coercion. This is the only way love can flourish.
