Hi Liz,
I love your humorous touch, especially here:
"By the time I'd finished, StoryLand's gates were, mercifully, swinging free. I forthwith made my escape from the ever-encroaching filth and disrepair of the money pit, lest I become trapped into tending its sundry ills."
I must have missed the crash. But I've been so tired lately, snoozing on the couch, and my granddaughter hid my goggles! She does that sometimes, usually when I tease her. My wife loaned me hers, but they aren't quite right. I end up squinting. So I can't at at the computer for long. And I've got a lot of reviewing to catch up on! Even now, there are 37 messages waiting for me!
I love your bubbly personality! Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Kimbob

I thoroughly enjoyed The Irony of Immersion. The idea of writing an annual Happy New Year letter is wonderful! Recipients, no doubt, appreciate the effort and look forward to receiving their copy. I am new to FanStory, so I hadn't realized the site was unavailable for a period of time...what a good reminder that change (often unexpected) is the most dependable thing about life. I look forward to reading future submission (and, maybe someday, receiving one of your Happy New Year missives). Wishing you the best.

Once more, congrats on recognition. I, too, prefer to reside here. As it stands right now, I don't have the grand kids and therefore should be cleaning. However, my visits here have been shortened due to home schooling the above mentioned grands, and so I am indulging myself this morning.

I guess this is how paranoid I am! I was on and writing a message when suddenly I was kicked off and rudely alerted to "Server Error"---each time I tried to sign back on I got another version of this, with a series of numbers and a prompt to contact THE WEBMASTER--which sounds more like a Marvel Comic character than any techie that could fix this. SO--while I'm sorry it threw you off your game, I am perversely thrilled that apparently the whole SITE was cattywampus and it wasn't some PFI God I insulted! Hey, at least you got those letters written!---Karenina

A silver lining in everything that happens, right? I tried to get onto the site at that time, first on my PC, then my iPad, to no avail. Then I discovered that for an unknown reason (later figured it out) my phone wasn't ringing, not because nobody wanted to talk to me, but because the ringer just didn't work!
Glad you're back writing.

What a perfect summary of how FS insinuates itself into your other life and takes over. You do realize you're addicted!!! LOL
Love the post.
Love your language: unceremoniously evicted, tarried.
Love your wry sense of humor.
Thanks for holding up a mirror.

Your habit of writing New Year's letters resonates with me because I send my Christmas Cards, with a Happy New Year, at a time where I know they will not receive them until the week between Christmas and New Year. I'm a little stumped by your...
Having been unceremoniously evicted from my home, I was obliged to stop by the house, where I tarried long enough to write the requisite letters.
Did I miss something?

It's nice that word slingers don't have to be trapped in the old west. They can kick off their spurs, put their Stetsons in the trash, and pretend to be Lawrence of Arabia, or Lawrencia. Thanks for sharing.

So the site did crash yesterday. I thought I was being evicted because I'd somehow not paid my yearly dues. FanStory didn't act like it had ever heard of me for a while. Congratulations on getting those letters written. I should have used my time wisely instead of try to argue with FanStory that I really wasn't a robot.

Did you ever find out why FanStory crashed? I noticed it twice.
Your letter writing is to be applauded and admired. Finding genuine pleasure in this avenue is almost unheard of nowadays.
