I follow the seagulls
to my resting place
below black waters

The sad ending of Virginia Woolf's remarkable life will always cause great sorrow. We can only ponder the final moments when she could no longer resist despair.

What a well-written but very sad poem. I have suffered from depression and my best friend is also bipolar. Sadly, although we all share similar illnesses, we all end up walking through life often alone when we suffer from their effects.
Thank you for writing such a moving poem and sharing your story.

Thank you for writing this , it delivers an emotional impact. I also appreciate your notes about the author and the history of her family experience. My son has schizophrenia and if not for medications, he would be in the hospital instead of with the family that loves him. Thank you for sharing this important piece.

Virginia Wolf's tragic life and ending is reflected artistically in your sad but beautiful poem.
You used great imagery. I especially like " Heavy with rocks, as cumbersome as my sins"
A beautiful piece of writing.

This poem sounds like the end of someone's struggle with depression. It is so sad when someone feels this way. I hope her soul follows the seagulls up to the sky.
Keep writing and stay healthy

So powerful. I enjoyed reading your notes on this as well, as I did not know much about Virginia Woolf.

I look forward to reading more of your beautiful work.

Stay well. All the best.

What a powerful piece of writing. You have captured the essence perfectly of this person's despair, and written a beautiful, lyrical, but sad piece of poetry. Thank you for sharing. I was moved also by the author's notes.

This is a sad poem. The choice of the picture is appropriate. It carries the message and the story of the poem.

The sad part of the poem is: "I follow the seagulls to my resting place below black waters."

Thank you for sharing the story with us.

I know about Virginia Wolf and read her work before. But I didn't know that she was institutionalized. That fact alone can drive her to suicide.

I love this poem. It is full of emotion. I think it's because you truly understand her.

Exceptionally written.

This is a nicely written free verse poem. My life is not worth living I'm lost in the hallways of my mind with no one to show me the way out. Nice presentation background colour and font.
